Title: Two

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but does Taylor's voice sound like a guy's voice? I get that she looks androgynous but does she sound like a guy too? I'm confused as to how Christain didn't realize Taylor was female as soon as she opened her mouth to speak.

Author's Response:

This isn't the first time this has been asked and it was my mistake for not making it clear.

When you have a story based on a tv show you sort of take these things for granted because in Coffee Prince, Eun Chan's voice could go either way. This is the case for Taylor as well. So yes, please think of her as having not a deep voice, but a boyish kind of voice.

Title: Two

Great start.  I hate and like Coffee Prince.  My issues was two fold.  I hated the fact the female character basically made the guy question his sexuality.  To me that is an extremely deep issue.  And the execution of such an issue is as bad when people include rape in a fiction.  It can never seem to be done properly---and should just not be carried out.   To twist the mind of someone in that way is not something cool---and she did---to kiss the guy when he thinks your a guy---oy.

Actually it's degrading and humiliating to for the other person.  I felt the writers (I think the Hong Sister's) did not successfully convey that issue properly and I find it takes a story into another direction.  It could be why I appreciated Hana Kimi (the Jdorama) so much more...since the boy found out on his on and very early on it was a girl but allowed her to continue to carry out her lie as a boy and not even informing her that he knew she was a girl.  I felt that was properly executed---he got to understand her reasoning and made sure to put her in awkward positions without being thrust into a sexuality debate himself.

Coffee Prince just made it seem almost degrading to me.  I actually didn't want the leads ending up together after that issue...because that is just too big a lie for a relationship.  Admittedly I have issues with lies in any relationship even if it makes for good conflict.  Confilct can arise from outside issues rather than between the two people who are in a relationship.  Second problem was the end.  The guy proposed and she didn't even give him an "I Love You..." or that she would even marry him.  In the end...he seemed more enthralled than she was with him---this is after her studying in Italy.  However it could also be YEH's acting, but the lines didn't give her the opportunity to even show that she really loved him.  He ended up sacrificing himself and everything for her.  She did nothing but what she wanted.  She wanted to kiss him, while he thought she was a boy---and she did.  Making him suffer.  Then he finds out it was a lie.  She apologizes all is right.  Then she wants to go to Italy and he supports her--for years too.  And she goes.  Then she gives the impression she wants to do more and marrying him is not really on her list. It just left me disappointed.

Anyway CP had a few problems for me.  Hopefully this is story is not 100% married to the entire CP storyline.  But the beginning is very engaging.  I'm actually currently writing my own for a few Kdrama's I truly enjoyed. And none of them include YEH---although I've seen all her dramas.  I wonder why that is.  Anyway I plan on reading the second chapter when it comes out.  You're an extremely talented writer.

Author's Response:

What a thougthful response. I know what you're saying with CP but I'd say that's really a product of most gender bender fiction. There is always a point that the male character stops to question himself and why "another man" incites these sorts of feelings out of him. CP leans towards the melodramatic aspect of this genre while Hana Kimi (and something like Ouran Koukou Host Club) lean towards the comedic aspect, so I think that's possibly why they approach this topic so differently.

I agree that the end of CP was weak, much weaker than the beginning, but I blame that slightly on the two episode extension. I do agree that she looked selfish in the end but at the same time he was willing to go along with it so I don't struggle with it as much.

The story is definitely not 100% married to CP but it does have definite similarities. So if you found CP frustrating then you might find this story frustrating at times too. I'll keep an eye out for your story. When Kdramas are on, they're some of the best entertainment out there.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

Hey I'm glad you updated because this story has more than piqued my interest. I would raelly like to see what Chris has planned for Taylor which I think has to do with working for him. And of course the moment when he realizes that "he" is in fact a "she". Can't wait.

Author's Response: I appreciate your comment. I hope you continue to find it interesting as the story progresses.
