Author's Chapter Notes:

Hey y'all! It has been a while but I am back! I took a much needed hiatus and have found that I am ready to get back to writing again. I must admit that I am a little rusty but definitely feel like that rusty will rub off here soon. ;)

The first story I am bringing back is Perfectly Imperfect. I have pretty much crafted a brand storyline with the same old characters that everyone loved. Raeann and Johnny are still themselves but there will be a bit more character and story building this time around. I hope you enjoy this new tale.

Prologue- First Day- Freshman Year of High School.

"Get out of the car, Raeann Anita."

Fourteen year old Raeann Baxter looked over at her mother Angela Baxter from the passenger seat and scowled. "I swear when you and Daddy are old and need me, I'm puttin' both of ya'll in a the worse nursing home I can find."

Her mother snorted. "Get over yourself and get out of the car. You've been sulking since we've moved here three months ago and quite frankly, I am sick of it. Calabasa is our home now."

Annoyed, Raeann sighed and turned her head and looked out the passenger side window. She rolled her eyes at the sight of the place that she would be spending five days a week for the next four years of her life, her new high school. The concrete steps was flooded with students standing outside socializing. She silently cursed her mother and father for making her move from Houston, Texas where she was born and raised to Calabasa, California. Calabasa was a beautiful place and the scenery was amazing but just not her style. She loved the nearly everyday sunshine and warm weather but the place was a little too flashy for her taste. She just knew that she was going to stick out like a sore thumb with her Southern ass.

Raeann's father Charles Baxter, who was a very accomplished real estate developer, was offered a job to take over as chairman and president of a very well-known real estate development company which was based in Calabasa. Neither her father nor her mother consulted with her about the move and that felt wrong to her. They had actually told her about the move only a week before they had to leave Houston. Neither one of them thought about her feelings or even asked her if she wanted this. They seemed to only care about the generous amount of money that would be coming their way, not her feelings. She had to leave behind her life and everything that was familiar. She hated her life and even felt some hate for her parents. She and her family have been in Calabasa since early May and now it was early September and the awful feelings she had before the move were still there, they have actually intensified every day since the move.

"Raeann, get out." Angela said sternly.

Raeann closed her eyes and clenched her jaws in agitation. She counted down from five and opened her eyes. She looked over at her mother who had a scowl on her dark brown face and a warning look in her equally dark brown eyes. Raeann knew better than to fight with her so she looked down at the floorboard and snatched up her backpack and purse. She opened the door of her mother's black Porsche Cayenne SUV and got out, slamming the door shut with a high level of attitude. Her mother honked the horn once and Raeann looked over her shoulder at the SUV.

Her mother rolled down the passenger side window and looked at her with her eyebrows raised in disbelief. "Who are you disrespecting?"

Raeann blushed from embarrassment and ignored the embarrassing stares from her new peers and hung her backpack on her left shoulder. She should have known better. Her parents didn't take too kindly to disrespect from anyone, let alone their daughter. Raeann blamed that on the Jamaican blood that ran through her mother's veins and the Nubian blood that ran through her father's. She has been giving them attitude since the move without getting in trouble and she knew that they were only letting her get away with it because they felt bad about keeping her in the dark but Raeann knew she had finally gone too far.

Raeann sighed and turned around to face the SUV. "No one."

"No, I think you're disrespecting me and I'm only going to warn you once. Fix your face and your damn attitude before I fix them for you!" Her mother all but yelled.

Raeann's blush deepened and she tried her best to wipe the attitude off of her face. "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry."

"Uh-huh. Stop trying me and your dad, you hear me?"

She quickly nodded her head. "Yes, ma'am."

Her mother nodded once. "Good. I'll be back to pick you up at three."

Raeann nodded her head again and hurriedly turned back around, heading up the walkway towards the crowded stairs. She once again ignored the stares, the now snickering and whispered from her new peers. She was probably never going to live this down. She was probably always going to be known as 'the girl who was chewed out by her mother on the first day'. Raeann adjusted her backpack on her shoulder as she approached the stairs and practically ran up them when she reached them. She somehow was able to avoid running over anyone on her way up. When she reached the top of the stairs, she hurried towards the royal blue metal and glass double doors and yanked one of them open as hard as she could. She stifled a grunt at the heaviness and walked inside, rolling her eyes in irritation at the nearly empty foyer. She so didn't want to be in this place.

She looked around the foyer, taking in the front office, school logo on the walls and on the hardwood floor under her feet and the large wooden display cases with a protective glass shielding sports, academic and band trophies and awards. She has already seen this place previously seeing as her mother dragged her to the open house night that was mandatory for incoming freshman and new students. She still wasn't impressed with the place to be honest. It was nothing like the high school she was looking forward to attending in Houston. Her would have been high school in Houston was very big on sports and performing arts, everything that she was about. This school was more into academics and band which were things she wasn't really into. Although she has always been a straight A and took her academics seriously due to her parents' stressing to her that education was important, she has always been more about sports than academics. Sports was a way of life in the South, especially football. She wished she could just go back home.

Raeann closed her eyes and sighed out loud. She turned in another direction with her eyes still closed and collided with something hard. She snapped her eyes open as she fell backwards, landing on her butt hard. Her backpack slipped off her shoulder to the floor and she dropped her purse. Raeann rolled her eyes hard and looked up slowly, way up and her eyes widened. She had collided with a male, a very large male who towered over her like the World Trade Center and was built like a tank. He stood over her so still that she wasn't even sure he was breathing. He was wearing a full length black trench coat with a matching turtleneck shirt, pants, combat style boots and he had thin black leather gloves on his hands. His long straight, thick raven black hair was hanging down around his face, shielding it from her. His hair nearly reached his waist. Even though she couldn't see his face she could tell that he was looking down at her and that sent a chill down her spine. He was so creepy to her.

She drew in her bottom lip between her teeth and chew on it gently. Raeann unconsciously began scooting back slowly away from him, leaving her backpack and purse where they were on the floor. She never took her eyes off of him. The big guy's shoulders slumped and he slowly squatted down in front of her. He picked up her backpack and purse with one of his large hands and dropped his head. He held them out to her and she noticed that his hand was shaking tremendously.

"I-I-I-I-I-I'm s-s-so s-s-s-sorry I-I-I s-s-scared y-you. I-I-I-I w-wasn't p-paying a-attention." He stuttered out softly. His voice was so deep but he spoke softly.

Raeann stopped moving and frowned, tilting her head to the side. She didn't expect that stutter or that deep baritone voice to come out of him. He was so strange and even frightening to her but she now felt an odd sense of curiosity about him as well. Raeann cleared her throat and said the first thing that came to mind.

"Good mornin'." She said.

The big guy flinched and lifted his head bit but his hair still shielded his face. He laid her backpack and purse on the floor and scooted it in her direction slowly. "G-g-g-good m-m-m-morning."

"Are you excited about your first day?" He shook his head hard and she couldn't help but giggle softly at the childlike action. "Why not?"

"N-not r-r-really a-a-a-a s-s-school p-p-person. I, um, a-almost d-didn't c-c-come." He stuttered.

"I can't say that I'm not a school person but I definitely don't wanna be here this mornin'. I wish I could go back home."

The big guy lifted his head a little more, hair still covering his face. "Y-y-you're n-n-not f-from a-around h-here a-are y-you?"

Raeann smiled. She must have been going out of her mind because she was now smiling and talking to him instead of running from him like she was going to do in the beginning. The new environment must be taking a much larger toll on her than she thought.

"How can you tell?" She asked.

He lifted his head a little bit more. "Y-y-your a-accent."

She laughed out loud. "Accent, huh? Can you guess where I'm from?"

He shook his head 'no' hard and his hair flew away from his face giving her a small glimpse of it but not enough for her to tell what he looked like. She could tell that he was very pale though and obviously very shy. She began wondering if his stuttering was a nerves thing or if he had a real issue, either way, it was cute to her. She didn't know how but the fear she had first felt was slowly melting away. He was actually coming across as more adorable than scary.

Raeann giggled softly and reached out, grabbing her backpack and purse with both of her hands and laid them next to her. "Aww, c'mon, I'll give you a hint. It's one of the states from the Deep South, one of the deepest."

His shoulders rose and fell gently. "W-well, T-Texas?"

She nodded her head and smiled. "Ding, ding, ding. I'm from Houston to be exact."

The big guy laughed softly and lifted his head a bit more. His laugh was so deep but soft, just like his speaking voice. "Y-you're f-funny." He said.

Raeann laughed softly herself and she scooted forward towards him a bit. She held out one of her hands to him. "I'm Raeann Baxter."

His head came up a little more and he hesitantly lifted one of his gloved covered large hands and gently grabbed her hand, shaking it. His hand pretty much engulfed hers. His handshake was firm but his hand shook greatly. "J-J-J-Johnathan K-King."

She couldn't get over how shy he was, it was so cute to her. She placed her other hand on top of his in her hand and he gasped softly. "It's nice to meet you, Johnathan."

The guy named Johnathan lifted his head completely, causing his hair to fall away from his face and Raeann gasped out loud as her eyes went to the left side of his face. The entire left side of his pale face was covered with burn scars. The pale and light pink somewhat puckered scars looked to be dated but they were very prominent. The scars looked very webbed and he was missing the end part of his left eyebrow. Raeann shifted her eyes to his and was met by the most beautiful set of crystal clear emerald green, downturned eyes. They literally sparkled like gems. His eyes held shyness, embarrassment and confusion. Raeann knew she was starting and she didn't want to make him uncomfortable but she just couldn't take her eyes off of him. She wasn't staring because he was hideous, she was staring because he oddly handsome.

He was handsome but not in a traditional Prince Charming kind of way. He was more like the rough and dangerous kind of handsome. The right side of his face was completely scar free and beautiful. He had very strong facial features including a straight nose that was kind of broad, his jaws and chin were very chiseled and he had the most beautiful big, full pouty lips she has ever seen. Those lips could rival Angelina Jolie's and they for sure had to make a lot of girls green with envy. Scars and all, he was very handsome and unique looking to her.

Raeann smiled and Johnathan quickly shook his head, causing his hair to fall around his face to shield it from her again. He pulled his hand out of hers and covered the left side of his face with it. Her smile slowly faded and she frowned. Without thinking, Raeann reached out and grabbed his hand, pulling it away from his face. Johnathan's hand trembled badly and she even took note of the way his body began trembling. Johnathan pulled his hand free from her grasp and covered his face once more. Raeann knew she should back off but she couldn't seem to. She reached out again and pushed some of his hair out of his face and he quickly turned his head away, giving her a view of the scar-less side of his face. His face was literally the color of a tomato, he was blushing hard. His eyes were closed and the trembling of his body intensified. He seemed to be not only be shy but also afraid and self-conscious and that made her sad.

Raeann touched the scar-less side of his face with her fingertips gently. "Why are you hidin' your face? What's wrong?"

Johnathan's eyes snapped open but he didn't look at her, he kept his head turned away. "I-I-I d-d-don't want t-t-to s-scare y-y-you any more than I-I-I already have."

She instantly felt guilty about her reaction to him when she had first seen him. Raeann blushed and pulled her hand away from his face. "I'm sorry I offended you when I first saw you and I wish I could redo that moment. I'm a jerk for judgin' a book by its cover. Forgive me?"

He turned his head and looked at her bashfully. Raeann stuck out her bottom lip and gave him her best puppy dog eyes. A slow smile spread across his face. He had a perfectly straight, pearly white smile. "H-how can I-I-I not forgive y-you?"

It was her turn to smile. "You can seriously call me a jerk if you wanna."

Johnathan shook his head. "I d-don't think you're a j-jerk."

"Are you sure?" She asked.

"Yes. I think you're..... He paused and looked down at the floor. "R-r-really s-sweet and n-nice."

"Thank you, I think you're really sweet and nice, too. If you ever think I'm bein' rude or talkin' too much just tell me shut up." She said.

Johnathan chewed on his bottom lip and then took a deep breath and sat down on the floor in front of her. He scooted a little closer to her and crossed his big legs Indian style, or attempted to. He smiled bashfully. "I-I like talking to you."

Raeann scooted a little closer to him as well and crossed her legs Indian style, too. She oddly felt so comfortable around him for some reason and even felt like she has known him for years, that she had met him before even though she knew hadn't. "Likewise. So, what year are you?"

"Freshman. You?"

Raeann couldn't hide her excitement. She giggled and bounced a little. "Oh, my gawd! Me, too. What's your schedule?"

Johnathan reached into one of his coat pockets and pulled out a piece of white paper folded into a square. He held it out to her with a shaky hand and Raeann took the paper from him and unfolded it. It was his class schedule. She scanned it and drew her eyebrows together. She sat his schedule in her lap and reached inside her purse and pulled out her schedule which was folded identical to his. She unfolded her schedule and grabbed his from her lap and held them side by side, comparing them. She looked from each schedule and laughed out loud.

"We have the same classes, Johnathan." She said excitedly.

W-w-w-we d-d-do?" He stuttered.

She looked up at him and nodded her head enthusiastically. "Every single one. How cool's that?"

He opened his mouth to say something but an annoying deep beeping sound rang throughout the school. He dropped his head and sighed. "S-s-school is about t-t-to start."

She should feel annoyed by that but she didn't. She was now actually looking forward to her first class, all of her classes because of the big guy. She climbed to her feet and looked down at him, he looked up at her. Raeann smiled as she bent down to pick up her backpack and purse. "We better get goin' then."

Raeann stood up to her full height as her new peers filled the foyer and watched as Johnathan slowly coming to his feet. When he stood at his full height Raeann had to tilted her head back to the point of nearly giving herself whiplash. She was just four feet eight so the big guy had to be at least two feet taller than her. The top of her head didn't even reach his ribcage. He was so big. Johnathan smiled shyly down at her and Raeann opened her mouth to ask him just how tall he was exactly but her words were halted when a dark haired guy passed by them and bumped into Johnathan, nearly knocking him down. Johnathan ended up next to Raeann. The guy who had bumped stopped and chuckled.

"Stay out of my way, freak."

Johnathan dropped his head and nodded it. "S-s-sorry." He all but whispered.

Raeann frowned and looked up at the dark haired guy who was smirking. She felt anger and a sense of protectiveness washed over her. She grabbed Johnathan's hand without taking her eyes off of the jerk who had bumped him. She ignored Johnathan's gasp. "So y'all don't have manners on the west coast, jackass?"

The dark haired guy frowned. "What?"

"Where I'm from we say ‘excuse me' or ‘sorry' when we bump into somebody. You owe him an apology and I suggest you do it as soon as possible." She warned.

The guy's frown turned into an arrogant smile. "Or what, you short stumpy little bitch?"

She heard Johnathan gasp again next to her and she couldn't help but chuckle at the insult thrown at her. Being called short and stumpy wasn't something she took personally because it was totally obvious to her and other people that she was indeed both. By official height measurements she would be classified as a little person at four feet eight even though she didn't look like a little person exactly. She was built like an average size person but her athletic physique gave her a stumpy look.

Raeann's physique was courtesy of her participate in gymnastics and competitive dance. She also competed in glamour and natural pageants as well so she was almost required to keep in shape. She has also had type 1 diabetes since she was ten so she had to take care of her health by default. She worked out four days a week along with her extracurricular activities. Raeann's height and body type stood out greatly when she was competing both in pageants and dance competitions but it kind of gave her a competitive edge because her look was so much different than the average sized dancer and beauty queen. She was a very accomplished pageant winner and dance competitor and she had the crowns, trophies and medals to prove it. She had been glamour and natural pageants since she was five and has been dancing since she was three. She literally built the body she wanted and she had no shame in it. Her height and body was beautiful in her eyes and her self-esteem was too high to let some jerk bring her down with an immature insult.

Raeann smiled up at the dark haired guy. "You know what, keep your apology ‘cause this is the last time you will ever mess with my new friend Johnathan or me. Honey, I'm nearly at eye level with your nuts so if you wanna keep standin' and pain free, I suggest you walk the hell away and leave Johnathan alone for good."

She heard Johnathan laugh softly once more and the dark haired guy's face turned a shade of bright red from obviously embarrassment. He turned and walked away and Raeann rolled her eyes. She looked up at Johnathan who was looking down at her shyly. She gave his hand a soft squeeze and smiled brightly.

"Ready?" She asked.

Johnathan blushed and nodded his head. "T-t-thank y-you. N-no one h-h-has e-ever done t-t-that for m-m-me."

She frowned at his statement and gave his hand another soft squeeze. She felt awful once again about how she had reacted when she first saw him because something inside her knew that he received that kind of reaction daily. She even had a feeling that he was bullied as well due to the confrontation she just had with that jackass. She wasn't the type of person who just stood by and watched people mistreat others. She always stood up for people and she was going to continue to do so. Johnathan didn't have to worry about anyone bothering him ever again. Raeann didn't know him at all but she felt a sense of closeness towards him and she just couldn't stand the thought of him being mistreated for some reason. She was going to watch his back and protect him from the ugliness of high school.

Raeann licked her lips and cleared her throat. She looked away briefly and noticed that the foyer was less crowded but a few of her peers who had obviously stopped to watch the show she had put on with that jackass were still standing around watching her and Johnathan. She shook her head and looked back up at him apologetically. "Johnny, I'm so sorry I offended you earlier. I sometimes say and do stupid things before I even think and I treated you no better than that jerk who was rude to you and I'm truly sorry for that. Can we please start over? I would love for us to be friends."

Johnathan looked down at the floor and sighed softly. "Y-y-you w-want to b-b-be m-my f-friend?"

Her heart ached at his question because he sounded so shocked and sad even. Raeann rubbed the back of his hand in hers with her thumb. "Yes, I do. Maybe we can be best friends one day."

He looked up at her with wide eyes. "I-I.. W-what?"

She giggled softly. "I'm kinda in need of new friends around here and you've been so nice and sweet to me. Maybe you can even show me around Calabasa one day, does that sound okay?"

Johnathan quickly nodded his head. "Y-YES!" He all but yelled.

Raeann laughed out loud when he blushed. "Awesome, now let's get to class before we're late."

Johnathan nodded his head enthusiastically and Raeann winked at him. She and Johnathan headed for the hallway that would take them to their first period class hand in hand. Raeann smiled to herself and knew that she had just met someone very unique, rare and special. The move to Calabasa didn't seem so bad to her anymore.

_____________

I CAN'T BREATHE OR THINK STRAIGHT!

Fourteen year old Johnathan King couldn't seem to catch his breath and he couldn't concentrate on what one of his peers was saying during the class introductions because the beautiful girl with the rich Southern accent was sitting in the chair and desk combo seat behind him. Each student who wanted to introduce themselves to the class could go in front of the class and do so. Johnathan was one of several who wasn't interested. His interest was in the beautiful Raeann Baxter who he had met in the school foyer. He could still feel her small slender hand through his glove even though she had removed it and he could still smell her sweet scent which smelled like a combination of honeysuckles, warm vanilla and something he thought sunshine would smell like if it had a scent. Her smell was nearly overwhelming him in a great but scary way because he has never encountered anyone or anything like her or her delicious smell in his life. He was actually still trembling from their encounter in the foyer and he had butterflies the size of dragons in his stomach. Johnathan was having the worst day but because of her, his day became bright for the first time in many years.

Johnathan wasn't at all excited about his first day of high school because he knew what to expect. He had fully expected to be bullied and teased like he had been this morning. Encountering jerks like Phillip Simpson, who has bullied him since seventh grade, was nothing new to him but the beautiful little Smurf like creature taking up for him was. He had never had anyone stick up for him outside of his family before. It was something different and something that was greatly appreciated. He wished she had been outside when his mother had dropped him off this morning because he had experienced rude and disrespectful treatment on his way into the building. He had been so upset when he got into the building that he really didn't pay attention to his surroundings. He had been so concentrated on getting away from everyone and hiding somewhere until the bell rang that he didn't see the little Smurf in his path and he ended up knocking her down. He had felt horrible and was almost certain that she would belittle and yell at him but he had received a different reaction which was heartbreaking and surprising at the same time.

Raeann's first reaction had been that of fear and he hated that because he never wanted to scare or hurt anyone. He had tried his best to apologize but he of course was stuttering and shaking like crazy, it was something he did when he was nervous. He had been a mess but somewhere along the way, her fear had melted and turned into curiosity and she began talking to him like a human being. She had even apologized for her reaction and that surprised him greatly because no one ever took the time to get to know him and look past his scars and appearance. For once, Johnathan felt normal and forgot that he was scarred. She had smiled, laugh, joked, held his hand, touched his scars on his face and held a conversation with him without saying anything rude or mean. He had never had anyone really treat him the way she had. He wasn't the best looking thing and he had wanted to hide his face from her due to his disfigurement but she somehow was able to make him feel comfortable. She didn't seem disgusted by him either. She just looked at him like he was normal. She would probably be the only person who looked at him that way. She would be the only person who wanted to his friend. The only one.

Johnathan has dreaded his first day of high school since graduating from middle school. He knew it was going to be a traumatic experience for him, just like every school year has been since his accident. He has been teased and bullied since the fifth grade because when he was ten years old, he was involved in a freak accident house fire that left him badly burned and scarred on eighty percent of his body. He suffered from severe nerve damage from the accident, causing him to never be able to grow hair on his face or body.

Johnathan and his family had moved into a newly built house that his mother had designed and his father built literally from the ground up. It had been a perfect sized home for his family. It had so much room and not to mention, a huge backyard from Johnathan and his two brothers to play and goof around in. He and his family had only lived in that house for two weeks before it completely burned to the ground. The electrician who had worked on the wiring of the house made an extreme error in the wiring of the lighting system and the house caught fire one night while he and his family slept. His room was the first place the inferno had erupted and his bed was the first thing that caught fire.

Johnathan, himself couldn't remember the exact details of the accident because he purposely chose not to think about the night that changed his life forever but his family told him a few months after the fire that the reason he had suffered such major injuries was due to the fact that he had passed out from smoke inhalation and was unable to remove himself from the blaze. Johnathan more than likely would have died that night had it not been for the smoke detectors in the hallway alerting his family. His family had told him that when they found him in his room passed out he was burning to death and according to them, they had put him out by rolling him to the floor and smothering the fire with a blanket. He was told that his skin was literally burned off him and his fingernails and toenails were burned off as well. Johnathan spent a year in a hospital pediatric burn unit recovering from third degree burns. It was the most painful and mentally draining experience of his life. Even after years had passed and a move into a new house, he still had nightmares about that night. He wouldn't wish that kind of pain and torture on his worst enemy.

In some ways, Johnathan was thankful for his family saving him but there were times Johnathan wished the smoke detectors hadn't gone off because of the horrific scars he carried with him both inside and outside. He has spent years in a mental health therapist office, having plastic surgery operations to try and repair his damaged skin and fix the scars that were left behind by the accident and has spent years dealing with stares and disrespectful commentary from strangers on the street and his peers. He hated having to covering himself literally from head to toe because of his own personal fear of being stared at and ridiculed. His life wasn't something that he exactly view as something great because he was living in his own personal hell. Johnathan sometimes questions why God didn't just take his life instead of leaving him on Earth to deal with such things. He also asked often what did he do to deserve this? He would take back whatever he did to upset his creator if he could. Johnathan has been trying his best to be the best person he can be because he didn't want to upset God ever again. He could never go through something like that again.

Johnathan has dealt with a lot since his accident and really didn't know how he was still standing or breathing because there have been time where he wanted to take his own life and probably would have done it years ago had it not been for his therapist. He has seen a therapist two times a week, every two weeks since he was eleven years old and he could honestly say that it has helped to some degree. He was diagnosed with major depressive disorder a few years ago and was given antidepressants that he had to take daily. His therapist and medication helped him keep his mind off of the bad things and that was something he needed because of what he dealt with from strangers and his peers. He was constantly picked on, stared at and treated like crap but he was able to deal with those things better nowadays because of his medication and counseling sessions. He covered himself up literally from head to toe to protect himself from the even harsher cruelness that people would inflict on him if they saw what was under his clothes. His choice of clothes were horrible but for his own peace of mind he had to do what he had to do. He was ashamed of himself and hated his live.

"Hey, Johnathan, drop one of your hands down to your side and make sure to open it." A soft, sweet voice called out from behind him.

Johnathan's eyes widened and he began trembling. He somehow could feel her body heat through his trench coat and shirt against his back. He stared straight watching their homeroom teacher Mr. Sanders who was sitting at his desk watching one of his students tell about themselves. Johnathan licked his lips nervously and slowly dropped his right hand over his desk to his side, that hand would be shielded from their teacher. Johnathan felt Raeann lean to the right and a second later he felt her place something in his hand. Johnathan instinctively closed his hand and brought it up to his desk. He was sitting towards the back of the classroom and someone was sitting in front of him so he was shielded from the teacher's prying eyes. He looked down at his hand and slowly opened it. It was a small piece of yellow paper folded into a square. His eyes widened even more and his heart began pounding. Johnathan glanced around the room subtly to make sure no one was watching him and then looked back down at his hand. He took a deep breath and slowly opened the paper with shaky hands and gasped softly. It was a note written in beautiful elegant cursive lettering and the paper had a black honeycomb and bumblebee border along the edges. This was his first note ever from a girl. He couldn't breathe. Johnathan read it silently to himself.

Hey, I don't wanna seem like a weirdo and I don't wanna freak you out but do you wanna hang out after school or somethin'? I'm new here and don't know anybody and don't know what y'all do for fun around here so maybe you can show me around? Maybe we can trade numbers and make plans for another time if you can't hang out today. Whatever you wanna do. -Raeann

Johnathan's heart pounded harder and louder and his hand shook. He just knew everyone around him could hear it but he couldn't help it or control it. Raeann wanted to hang out with him and she wanted to be his friend. That was something no one ever wanted to do, especially not girls. She was actually the very first person to ever show any interest in him. He has always been shy, even before the accident so it was not easy for him to make friends. He has never been in this position before and he wasn't sure what to do so he just did what came natural to him. He just sat there looking down at the note and trembling from fear.

"Raeann Baxter, would like you to come up and introduce yourself?" Mr. Sanders asked.

"Sure." Raeann replied sweetly.

Johnathan kept his eyes straight ahead and held his breath. He heard her stand up from her desk and she soon walked passed him. He told himself to keep his eyes forward but they wouldn't listen to him and his eyes went straight to her ass. He almost groaned out loud at how firm, perky and bubble like it looked. It was perfect, her whole body was perfect to him for that matter. She was a very short individual and he doubted that she was over five feet because the top of her head didn't even reach his chest. Raeann was a very fit girl and he could tell that she worked out. Her arms were very toned, sculpted and muscular. Her breasts were not too big or small and her waist small and he could see the imprint of a set of four pack abs through her shirt. Her hips flared out a bit, her thighs were thick, muscular and toned and her legs were also toned. He could tell through her jeans that she had very strong calf muscles, too. She was very athletic looking yet feminine and he liked that. Her body was amazing and seeing as he was a person who worked out and took care of his body, he could appreciate hers. She was dressed in a simple form fitting, solid yellow baby tee, tight very dark blue skinny jeans and a pair of Timberland boots with honeycomb pattern.

Johnathan groaned softly and quickly looked away when he felt a familiar tightness in his groin. He blushed profusely. He dropped his head in embarrassment and tried to place his thoughts elsewhere. He took a few deep breaths and willed his erection to go away. After a few moments, he looked straight ahead again and found her staring at him with a smile on her face. She was so beautiful to him. She had a beautiful flawless, rich gingerbread brown skin complexion, long, thick kinky dark chocolate brown hair that was pulled up into a ponytail at the top of her head. It hung just blew her shoulders in a wild lion's mane fashion. She had an oval shaped face with a very feminine jawline, very well groomed arched eyebrows, almond shaped cognac brown eyes, an upturned nose with a slight bulbous tip and big full, thick lips. She also had deep dimples embedded in her cheeks when she smiled her straight, even pearly white smile. She was a natural beauty as well. She was sporting no makeup and he loved that. He could stare at her all day.

Raeann subtly winked at him and then looked around the room at their classmates. "Well, my name's Raeann Baxter and I just moved here a few months ago from Houston, Texas where I was born and raised. I'm a Southern girl through and through with a love of sports, especially dance, gymnastics and football. I'm a championship dancer and have been dancin' since I was two and I've been competitin' since I was five. I also compete in beauty pageants and have been competing since I was five. I love the color yellow and bumblebees and I'm a people person so don't be afraid to talk to me."

That explained her body, the yellow, boots, sense of humor and sweet personality. God, she is so perfect!

The class included Johnathan applauded like they had done for everyone who had introduced themselves. He probably clapped louder than anyone in the room for her, just for her. Raeann smiled and walked back to her seat. When she passed him, she touched his shoulder gently and gave it a gentle squeeze before quickly removing it. Johnathan blushed at the gesture and hanged his head bashfully. Another student was called on by Mr. Sanders and they took center stage in front of the class to speak about themselves. Johnathan wasn't really paying attention. His attention was still on Raeann.

"Johnathan?" Raeann whispered.

Johnathan jumped and looked up to make sure no one was watching him. He then leaned back a bit and turned his head to the right. "Y-yes?" He whispered.

Out of the the corner of his eyes, he saw Raeann lean forward. She crossed her arms over her chest and lay them on top of her desk and then laid her chin on top of them. "You never answered my note."

Johnathan blushed. He wanted to write her back but he wasn't sure how. He has never been in this position before. He didn't know how to act or talk around her. He was just so shy and inexperienced and he was so sure that he was making a fool of himself. Even though she has been so nice to him, she probably thought that he was an idiot. He was so embarrassed and wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole. Johnathan closed his eyes and leaned forward away from her and dropped his head. His shoulders slumped and his body began trembling once again. Johnathan dropped his arms to his side and his right hand still clinched the note from Raeann. He blocked out everything around him and sat there mortified. He was tempted to get up and run out of the classroom but that temptation quickly faded when he felt a small, slender hand grab his left hand. Raeann's hand.

Johnathan opened his eyes and turned his head to the left and looked down at their joined hands. She gently pulled their joined hands back towards her and somehow was able to turn her hand and laced her fingers through his. He could feel the warmth of her hand through his glove. Her hand was so much smaller than his but their hands fit perfectly together. Johnathan eyes teared up at the sight. He blinked back tears and looked over his shoulder at her. Her chin was still propped up on her free forearm and she was looking up at him. Her beautiful brown eyes held compassion, patience, understanding and care. Johnathan's heart felt like it was about to burst out of his chest and a strange strong feeling rushed through him. He didn't know her at all but she made him feel safe, cared about and important. He felt those things from his family but never by someone outside of it. Raeann made him feel so good. He was swooning over her and he just met her.

Raeann smiled up at him and then sat up straight. She turned her attention to the front of the class but never let go of his hand. Johnathan stared at her for a long moment before finally turning his head back around when she didn't look at him again. He didn't dare looking around the class because he knew his peers were staring at them and at this point, he didn't care honestly. For the first time, Johnathan felt wanted. He felt like his life finally meant something to someone outside of his family. Johnathan finally felt happy. He was happy.
