Title: Chapter 72 Breaking the Cycle

Whew that was a deep chapter, and I can see that Jason was wilkling to let Kendra go, but she was having no of that, However IMHO is best that they part ways for now until Jason ca get his head together.

I'm seeing that Jason feels that he could not save his mother from his father when he was a boy, and thats too much pressure for someone that age, his mother was tryoing to "fix" thier father and that can't happen, he needed to get better for himself... and IMO Jason's father is kinda selfish wanting his forgiviness and for them to have a relationship like nothing ever happend... that's Jason's decision when he is ready, he can't make it happen.

That whole family needs theraphy.

Title: Chapter 72 Breaking the Cycle

That tore my heart out! I feel for Jason. This kid is in pain and he and his mom need to really talk. I hate that he feels like he doesn't even have her to turn to right now.

As for the conversation, I loved it. Jason needed to hear that he had worth and value from the girl he loves. And I love that they confessed their love to each other that freely.

I also noticed he didn't tempt fate anymore by staying the night. Good for him.

Emotional chapter!

Title: Chapter 71 The Cycle of Violence

Wow! In my head it was Kendra's family that had this reaction, not Jason's. And I feel so bad for him. He's dealing with childhood trauma and no one in his family has a clue that they all need therapy. As for Kendra, life is about to start life-ing for her big time (poor thing). Keep Grandma on speed dial

Title: Chapter 71 The Cycle of Violence

Hi. Great update. I don't know where to begin. Jason was raised in an abusive household and as someone who grew up in that environment it can take a lot to start rebuilding your life and trusting others. My father was a police officer and his colleagues knew that he was abusing his wife and children, yet did nothing but looked the other way. My mother stayed for 15 years. When she remarried, our step father had quite a challenge with damaged children and a damaged wife. Jason needs professional help to deal with his anger effectively. Mr. James and the rest of the family should seek professional help as well. They may learn that it will take Jason years to not get over, but come to terms with his damaged childhood. My step father has been married to my mother for twenty years and out of the six of us only two of us call him dad. It isn’t that he is not loved or seen as one, we don’t call our biological father, dad or any name for that matter; that’s just the way it is. Screaming and shouting at Jason will not get through to him. It never does. I only wish that my mother had gotten us help and herself as well.

Sorry for the long post. I like this story. Good writing.

I hope this isn’t used as an excuse not to like Kendra by his family.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review and thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry you had to go through that and I pray that you heal. <3 you are so right about people from these abusive backgrounds needing professional help. Childhood trauma does impact people in so many different ways but there us hope. Thanks for continuing to read and support this story.

Wow I mean, I don't know what else to say... Jason needs help so badly and NOW, adn and as much as I love them together, IMHO kendra needs to distance herself from Jason until he can gbet his head on straight.

Author's Response:

I know :( he definitely does need the help. And I agree if he doesn't get the help it may become too much for Kendra.

Title: Chapter 70 Brotherhood

I'm with Jason on Brian; he'll have to learn the hard way because he obviously wont listen to reason. So that said, I think Reese should stay out of it. That's a hard call, but again, he won't listen anyway.

Hmm...I kind of always felt they were headed for another fight because I knew Eric wasn't gonna let that beatdown go. And now I think Jason didn't really mind it either. However, I think Eric is done now. He got boys, and Jason got boys; so how many more beatdown must he have to finally go on about his business already. Kendra didn't mean anything to him. Its about his pride and nothing else.

I commend Jason because I thought he was gonna hulk out on them all! Instead, it went the other direction. Lucky for Eric!

Great chapter!

Title: Chapter 69 Boundaries

Yeah. I mentioned the previous review that communication about this is important. If they can maintain this level of communication, they might reach their goals together. Kendra has to remember that Jason is a virgin as well. He's dealing with the same temptations and emotions, too.

I think they both set reasonable boundaries. So just take it slowly and easy with the sexual teasing like that.

I think Jason is proving he'll respect her. He asked what her boundaries were to get a clear and spoken understanding of what they are, and told her his feelings on the matter. And reminded her if they're abstaining, then lets stick to the plan and no playing around about it. He's made up his mind to do what she wants about it. I think his future endgame is more permanent in nature anyway.

I'm guessing either his brother or David.

Great chapter.

Title: Chapter 68 Hold Me Close

Yes! Josh knew the situation, so why go there? At least give him a heads up! Colton is skeezy and I don't trust him at all. He'd try to make a play for Kendra just to hurt Jason; and could try to go too far because he thinks no woman should ever turn him down. Yeah. He gives me those vibes.

I really liked that scene. I think Jason and Kendra will be able to manage intimacy if they keep communication about it and their feelings open. I liked that they had that talk because it was important to say those things and to keep saying them.

I think he will talk in his own time. I still stand by some therapy though. Its trauma and abuse he needs professional help with.

No! Like Kendra said, who knows what's in lakes and such these days! Ughh!!

Nice!

Title: Chapter 67 Meeting the Parents

Mostly, I think Mary Ann's reaction was welcoming. I thought there might have been something at the very beginning there, but maybe she was just taking Kendra all in.

I think Mary Ann is ok with Kendra. Same for his stepdad and Josh. Josh was cool. Just said it surprised him and that was all. I don't think he ultimately really cares about it like that. He's 15, so its whatever for him.

The rest of the family is TBD. I'm interested in that meet up.

Not really. I like all the couples because they are all giving me different things. Everyone has there own drama, personalities, family and solutions to work on for themselves.

Nice!

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review. I'm glad I was able to portray the reaction I was intending Mary Ann to give, shock and curiosity. And I'm glad you like all the couples, and they truly do have their own set of battles to face.

Title: Chapter 66 To Tell or Not to Tell

Honestly, they both have a point. She's saying to just prepare them is all. But he's not wrong in what he said about telling them what a wonderful person she was and not foucusing on race. Funny thing is, if he had told her he told them she was black before they started dating, she probably would have asked why should it matter? Catch 22. However, sometimes race does matter more than we want to admit.

I think the parents will be fine with it. Or at least as fine as her family was when they met him.

I think Jason has some unresolved feelings he needs to talk about and handle. I don't know how they reacted with his father and that situation, but he sees them as the enemy. Maybe he felt his aunt didn't help him and his mom when they needed it back then. Whatever the case, he needs to deal with it.

Good chapter!

Title: Chapter 65 My Brother's Keeper

Sensitive buttons were pushed, but I think they could be friends again. And honestly, Larissa is at the center of some of this. Brian is scum and he had no right to do any of what he did; but Larissa should not have been there. And Reese wasn't wrong for his feelings of protection of his brother. It doesn't mean he agrees with his behavior. Which he didn't. And neither did their parents. Ain't nobody crazy to agree with him beating on women!

It got out of hand, and Reese and David were trying to diffuse the situation while  Larissa kept going. Actions and reactions were popping off, so they, along with Elisha, got caught up all in all of it.

I don't know why to prove your love to Larissa, folks have to follow her into foolishness and danger. That's nuts.

Nice!!

Author's Response:

That's a very good point about Larissa. It's all or nothing with her. Not sure if that's a sense of entitlement or a learned behavior from her mother. Her intentions are genuine to protect Danielle but she needs to learn boundaries and self control for sure.

Title: Chapter 64 My Sister's Keeper Part 2

Hmmm....while I understand what Larissa did, she should've left that alone. And I dont want her bringing heat down on Jay because she repeated stuff about the drug thing she shouldn't know about. So then it becomes about her wanting to get even; because Danielle was at least woman enough to say that she was warned and didn't listen, that thats on her. She was clear to Larissa about that. She should also apologize to Lisha. She was nasty to her about it.

Being caught in the middle sucks. Time will tell. Danielle's dad might have handled this in a more diplomatic way, but Larissa came in with guns blazing and crapped all over that! And now she got her damn self in some mess with her parents; and probably blow back from David's mom over it. She made a mess!

I don't think the parents were basically reasonable in how they handled the situation. With Larissa and Brian. They didn't know her from a can of paint and she shows up, neighbors watching, getting physical, loud and out of hand.

Lets just say she's stacked the deck against that much more with her mom. But, this allows her mom to see how she let her own biases get in the way. Larissa was right about that. He never had to prove anything and was a jerk all along; while David treats her right but never get the benefit of the doubt.

Good chapter!

Author's Response:

I agree with everything you said. That is a good point you brought up about Jason. I hope he doesn't get blamed about revealing the drug selling.

And this is very much a lesson learned for Larissa's mom to stop judging by race and appearance and go by a person's actions.

Danielle does definitely need to apologize to Elisha.

Title: Chapter 63 My Sister's Keeper Part 1

Larissa needs to just stay out of this situation and let her father the lawyer handle things and Danielle needs to tell her father that Brian put his hands on her.

As for Brian, I knew that I didn't like hin from the beginning, and IMHO he was playing Danielle until she gave up the goods, he was not that into her as she was with him ,he's is not worth her tears.

Valentina is a trip, and I see why her and Gabby are friends LOL

Please doh't let Larissa do anything STUPID.

Title: Chapter 63 My Sister's Keeper Part 1

Honestly, no, Larissa should really stay out of it. Danielle already told her to leave it alone. She admitted she didn't listen when warned. Tell her dad to handle it if she needs to do something.

No, I think David is doing the right thing. If it comes to that and Larissa gets caught up, step in then. Everyone istelling her to mind her business on this. And she doesn't need to be thinking crazy again about her own relationship because of what happened with her sister, either.

Tell her dad about it if she just has to ignore what her sister asked of her.

I'm not sure if it should have any effect on the group as a whole. Its not any of their business and neither Brian or Danielle are tight with the rest of them.

Larissa is so impetuous! Its gonna really get her into some serious trouble one day if she's not careful

Great update!

Title: Chapter 61 The Calm After The Storm

Just finished the homecoming chapters, the girls dresses were very nice.

Eric is that type of guy who had diarrhea of the mouth and its not the first timne that someone has jacked his jaw.

As for Resse and Lisha I'm on the fence with them, and IMHO I feel that all they do is have sex, and I'm hoping that Lisha is not thinking that sex is whats keeping them together... but we'll see,

Jason and Kendra are just too cute, and I don't think that anything would have happened even if grandma didn't enter the room, they have too much respect for one another.

Jason really needs to talk to someone about hi anger toward his father, b/c he maybe thinking that he'll be just like him and thats not true at all.

Author's Response:

I can see why it would appear Elisha and Reese's relationship is about sex but keep in mind she has been vulnerable with him especially about hee insecurities, which shows they have an emotional connection. I do think it's possible she may think sex is a way to keep him satisfied with her due to her underlying insecurities. We will just have to see..

As for Jason, I do agree he needs to talk to a therapist about his past because it's affecting him significantly in his relationships with others.

Thanks for your review.

Title: Chapter 61 The Calm After The Storm

I'm having reservations about Reese and Elisha, IMHO seems like all they do is have sex, its like Elisha thinks that sex is whats keeping her and Reese together, however I keep forgetting how young they are, but then again most adults are like that as well Lol... I just hope that there's more to their relationship that just physical.

As for Jason and Kendra, I don't think anything would have happened even if grandma didn't barge in, they both have too much respect for thier partents home and for one another.

But Jason does need to work on his anger, and he has seen how his mother was afraid of his father, and doesn't want to repeat the same mstakes, but he needs to talk to a therapist and soon.

As for Eric, some people write checks that their bodies can't cash... maybe next time he'll learn to keep his trap shut and pretend that Kendra is invisible to him.

Title: Chapter 61 The Calm After The Storm

I think Reese and Elisha are a decent fit together.

All that abuse with his father and what it did to him and his family. Jason hasn't dealt any of that. It comes out with his temper. So, it not surprising he'd want to know how Kendra fwlt about what she saw. He lost it!

I think Kendra just wanted to spend a bit more time with him and check to see if he was really ok.

I don't think more than kissing because she was at home, with a grandma fully awake and waiting downstairs, not a place with any privacy.

I do think AJ needs to mind his own family. He has daughters that will be needing that type of guiding. In fact, he's been a horrible role model on that front! Kendra has a mother to see to that, and its not him!

Those dresses; especially Kendra's, are everything!!

I thought everyone except AJ were nice to Jason.

And yeah, Paul and AJ may feel some type of way, but that's their problem. I think Kendra mentioned early on that she wasn't especially close to her stepdad anyway, so I'm not sure just how much of an impact he's going to have on her with this. AJ seems to be the real problem here. Her grandma was a doll! And Miriam was very warm to him.

Jason did make some stereotypical assumptions about how AJ looked. But I liked that he checked himself on it in real time.
