Prologue


She tried to run as fast as her legs could carry her, but it was difficult both with a limp and all the distraction beneath and around her. She called out only to be drowned out by the heavy rains that pummeled on her and the loud thunder that shook everything on sight. She searched high and low, calling out in vain for her friend, until she found him among the rubble, seemingly lifeless.

She ran to her best friend’s side and called out to him, but there was no response. She tried to move him, but he groaned in severe pain. While she was relieved he was alive and okay, she was saddened to hear him in anguish and realized that he was shaking a little bit. She was powerless and unable to help him. So all she could do was sit down next to him and rest her head on a safe part of his body, hoping that this was not the end.

What she did know, was that no matter what, no loyal bone in her body would ever leave his side.
