Lusting after someone's fiance— is definitely not a good idea.
It obviously isn't the right way to start off a New Year, but try explaining that to 26-year-old Marlena Logan.
At this point in her life, she's not hearing it. She has no time for reason or logic—
Marlena is drunk on love. She's inebriated with the hope of finding Mr. Perfect. Mr. I'll Commit To You Right Now.
That is what Nyle Winters represents. He is universally attractive with thick blonde hair, friendly green eyes, and a tall frame.
'What a man! What a man! What a mighty good man! Yes, he is...'
The lyrics to the popular R&B song pops into her head. En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa had it right when they recorded that song.
The image of Nyle dominates her thinking.
Marlena is on an erotic high fueled by temptation, desire, and need. The timing is excellent—
After surviving one horrible year that began with a job layoff and ended with the worst online dating experience ever, the attractive African American woman is ready for a steamy, salacious encounter with a man.
She shudders briefly as she thinks of the past year— She can still clearly hear the voice of Stanton Brooks aka Mr. High-Value Man as his profile name proudly announces to all would-be daters.
"Humph!" she scoffs in distaste. "What an arrogant, misogynistic man."
Marlena relives listening to his words as he bluntly challenges her during their second dinner date, 'How many times do I have to take you out before I get sex?' the man demanded. 'Apparently, you're not in a rush to fulfill your part of this deal. Give me a clue. Is it four, five, or six times? Tell me something 'cause I'm getting tired of playing these silly games with you—'
She flinches as the memories overtake her. The price of her meal was sex? With him? Really!
When did she agree to that? Who told him that he was entitled to all of her goodness? What the hell kind of agenda was he on?
Before Marlena allows her anger to escalate and to bring on another tirade of filthy words, she redirects her thinking.
She is tired of the male talking points of the Manosphere. She doesn't want to hear another monologue about the predatory nature of women. She's listened to enough panel discussions on the imperfections of the modern woman.
Enough! Enough! Enouuuuuuugh! She yells out mentally. I get it! You're angry! Life isn't working out for you! Please, stop with all the hatred!
Marlena needs a break from the toxic love-hate relationship rhetoric that is dominating social media platforms.
She thinks about Rodney King, Can't we? Can we all just get along?
He'd uttered those words during a tumultuous time in American history when his brutal beating by the police had been televised.
Marlene just wants to get along with everyone. She is exhausted by all of the name-callings. She is tired of all the S.I.G.N. Games.
She'd never been the type to Shame a person. She'd experienced Insults too many times to employ such tactics.
Marlena simply didn't believe it was right to Guilt a person into doing something. That was just plain mean and wrong.
And, she'd never been a woman who Needed to be right all of the time. If she made a mistake, she would apologize, correct it and move on.
Life's too short! Nobody's perfect! We all make mistakes. Let's all be real about it...
Marlena feels an inkling of discomfort. Or is it guilt?
She is currently breaking one of the Ten Commandments. She's blatantly lusting after a man who's involved with another woman.
Nyle Winters is happily and faithfully committed to his fiancee.
Their wedding is fast approaching and he is proudly wearing his engagement watch.
A gift from you-know-who— the ecstatic, and over-the-moon chick who's gotten her happily-ever-after at the perfect age of twenty-nine.
Marlena is frustrated.
She's dealing with one year of pent-up sexual tension—
Sleeping with Nyle Winters is the only thing she can think about!
Her repressed, and non-existent sex life combined with easy access to Nyle Winters has created a desperate woman who is capable of doing almost anything—
Marlena is trying to fight this addictive part of her personality.
She knows that these impulsive, obsessive feelings come from a place of loneliness.
She understands that Nyle Winters isn't perfect. The love-starved woman has mentally created the ideal man of her dreams.
Leave him alone! Let the man be! Don't make a fool of yourself. Seducing an ex co-worker will lead to disaster...
The words are sternly indicting.
The young woman tries to resist the wicked thoughts that urge her to direct message Nyle on Christmas day.
He's not her man! He's made his choice. Move on, girl!
