I like to read BWWM romances, which, in my opinion, is the most neglected genre in literature on this here floating rock. One of these days, I'll put up a story of my own, but for now, I'm just a kick ass Beta Reader, leaving the occasional well thought out critique and accolade.

Chance Gyllenborgh seems to have it all. A pregnant, loving girlfriend, a close knit family, and great life.
Angelina Walker is running. She's a top chef and restaurantuer and a workaholic. She throws herself into work to avoid her personal life. Needing a break, she settles down in a town and meet a variety of different people, including Chance.
Things seem great at first glance but Below The Surface is where monsters lie and sociopaths dwell.

What? You gave in that fast??? The body reacts to physical stimulation, even if the subject isn't the slightest bit interested. If you sit two strangers, a hetro male and female, in chairs facing each other, forcing them to look each other in the eye for a significant period of time, they will experience feelings at the end of it. So kissing him, the ass wipe who hasn't said he was wrong for everything he ssid, shouldn't erase how awful he was. Ugh.

Oh man. Brandon...why Brandon, why? I get that we don't know the whole story, but he's way too comfortable raging all over Diya. Whether he's manhandling her or dismissing her or hollering at her, it's getting to be a bit out of hand. And Diya has to be the most laid back, somewhat spineless balc woman I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Where is her backbone? Her voice? What is going on??

Yeah, Branny did take things too far. The why of it is fodder for future chapters. I'm not sure if I get or agree with Diya being somewhat spineless or missing a voice. Laid back? Yes. Smart enough not to buck up to a boyfriend gone snarling beast? Definitely. I have several theories about what passes for strength and weakness among black women Diya's character sort of highlights. But that's a different discussion for a different forum and day.

Reviewer: GreenRoots Signed Um...yeah. So Diva's issues with her dad are only there because she gives him full reign to continue to create them. How old is she and why doesn't she just move to another office? And this thing with her dad having exes followed and what not, I would never speak to him again if he pulled that. That would be a stipulation in our father-daughter relationship, "If you do something this intrusive again, i will continue to date this person but never speak to you again." What is going on with Diya? And Brandon is not innocent in this either. He's hiding something...and it's big. Hope Diya stops playing this game with her father, she has a lot to loose if she doesn't.

Okay, so to answer your questions, Diya's thirty, she did move to another floor but William's all about an elevator ride, and what's going on with her is that she's never met a guy worth risking her relationship with her father over...until now?
There are some yet-to-be-discussed family dynamics that'll explain Diya's willingness to forgive her father's behavoir. Those are coming several chapters down the line.
As for Brandon, he is far from innocent. No one is. More on that to come.
P.P.S. I've seen several people mention ICE here on The Chamber and they've had nothing but great things to say, so I'll take that as a compliment.

Growing up in a southern town like Glenmount, Alabama was never easy for Mercy Stovall especially if your personal demon eventually grow up to be 6'4'' and over 200 lbs. Then one night at a Halloween party, everything changed. It all started with one spanking and spiraled downward from there.
I am loving this cat and mouse chase, even though I never read the first version. But what I am REALLY curious for is more of their back story. If they've known one another for over 20 years, what was their childhood like? I would love to see detailed flashbacks about them in school, why they hated each other, how long before he knew he really didnt hate her at all, but she hadn't caught on...etc.

I'm not sure I'm lkin this new character that wants Ember for himself though. I kinda want to see if Vincent is able to convince Ember, over time, to understand his obsession/undying devotion to her and fall for him too. Yes, I understand this is a dark story of an attacker and a vctim, I get that, but I gotta be honest. I've often wondered how many have ended up with their stalker, not knowing they were surveiled and watched for long periods of time. They just thought the guy was really sweet and attentive, and into them.
