Title: Chapter 18 Let Me Lead You To The Light

Love that Seleah and Joseph are bonding.I hope Demaris gives her a chance to explain. Its time for her to let her family know what happened with Alonzo. Maybe if she opens up, she'll begin to heal.

Title: Chapter 18 Let Me Lead You To The Light

My heart is going to break for both Dem and Seleah when the ugly truth comes out...how could Walker's wife not know just what kind of "man" she was married to...he was a pervert...under the guise of a "man of the cloth"...I'm more than sure that Seleah wasn't his only young victim...there had to be many, many, more...and I don't buy that she didn't "know"...she only chose to believe and "see" what she wanted to believe...I only hope that Dem can somehow forgive his mother and Gerald Jackson for trying to protect him from such a horrible truth...I also hope that Dem realizes his mother is as much a victim in all this as he is...yes, she lied about his parentage...but she didn't do it maliciously...she was ashamed because of the burden that Walker forced her to carry all these years when she herself was no more than a child who was trusting and a grown-a** man took advantage of her trust...the saddest part in this is he made her feel worthless as a human being...and stripped her of any chance to have a normal, loving relationship with a man because of her trust issues...Joseph has his work cut out for him...Seleah is damaged...but perhaps the only bright spot in Dem's confrontation with his mother will be that she finally releases some of that burden and pent-up rage she has been carrying for long and get help so she can start to heal from her childhood trauma...

Love this story...can't wait for more...superb as always...oh, and I loved Joseph's and Seleah's first date...so sweet...

Author's Response:

"There are none so blind as those who will not see" is a quote that applies to Mrs. Walker.  She immediately blamed her 13 year old son for the act without any knowledge of the situation.  It was obvious to her what the truth must be, but she grabbed onto something that was more acceptable to her.

Joseph does have his work cut out for him and when this thing blows up for all to see, it will be even more challenging than it is right now.

More shocking things will be revealed...soon!

This was excellent, Seleah your world is about to crumble.  Demaris is going to be so upset, you have lied to him about where he came from and he won't be happy about that.  Joseph is smooth, When this story firsdt started I admit that I couldn't stand Joseph or Julian now they have a special place in my heart.

Great chapter again. I wonder how many women have never been on a real date?

Poor Dem, I guess the truth is about to come out!

I felt Seleah's pain in your words. My heart dropped. Her actions remind me of my oldest sister. Shrle buys expensive things for her children to compensate for XYZ, but she doesn't get that they need love more than anything.

As usual I am loving your message.

I thought with the mention of Demaris in this chapter we would read more of his father's family. Still waiting for that shoe to drop!

I think it is cute that Seleah is excited about a "real" date with Joseph. It's sometimes hard to imagine that she's never dated. But given her history plus her mom not really being a good example, how would she know any better?

So Joseph wants to court (not date) Seleah. How old school is he? I think it's cute because no one talks like that anymore.

you know, i 'm noticing a trend with you ms. brenda. you depict some characters who i cant stand but before the story is done you have me in their corner.

Author's Response:

LOL!! That's because there's a reason people are the way they are.  I try to see the best in people, but that does not always work, even for me.  I've had people that were mean and abrasive and I just totally did not like!  Later I would learn things they had been through bit by bit and I would begin to understand them better.  I didn't always agree with their choices, but I understood why they were the way they were and so that taught me to be a little more sympathetic and not to just write people off.  I tend to incorporate some of my experiences in my stories.  Thanks for the review!

Yeah!!!! And we're off. God has made his delivery and Joe has accepted it.

I'm glad that Amaris was able to talk to Joe to in order to give him a bit of 411 and some background or hind site into her sister's psychy she just a little confuse well a lot of cofused and need to be lead on the right path as far as men are concern and lead back to God b/c she has known him and had faith in him until that misfortunate incedent with the pediphile Walker.

Great update as always more more more please.

Thank you!

Happy writing!

Author's Response:

Thanks Thundakat:  Yes, the courting has begun!  Seleah has never been courted by a man before, so I'm trying to think of some funny scenerios.  LOL.  More to come soon!

Title: Chapter 17 The Truth Will Make You Free II

I'm back again, Brenda...another week of three hours a night of sleep...but I've had my Friday evening nap...lol...

These last two chapters have been gorgeous...your attention to detail in fleshing out your characters is amazing...I'm "there" if you will...and I'm loving the sweet love story developing between Joseph and Seleah...I know I've had some unkind words to say about Seleah in the past...but you've shown me a very real human fallacy of judging a person before you actually get to know them...and I'm enjoying the journey of self-discovery of the real Seleah...gosh, I just want to give her a hug...the Reverend Alonzo really did a number on this child...and if you ask me...he got off a little too lightly...I don't believe that Paula for all her short-comings as mother would have allowed a supposed "man of God" to do this to any of her daughters if she hadn't like so many people had misplaced trust in people who are supposed to be there to serve our spiritual needs...it's a shame that some people take advantage of their position in the lives of people to do so much damage...so much damage that it still shapes their lives even today...this is such a deep, yet heart-breaking reality of life...and it makes Seleah a very sympathetic character...so much so that I'm rooting for her to be shown the way...and I believe that Joseph is the one to do just that...love how he is courting her...yes, he wants her physically...but I'm glad that you didn't have him give into his base needs and decided to concentrate on him wooing her instead and respecting her as a person...something that no man has ever done for her...she's such a fragile flower now...in spite of the rough edges she displays to protect her heart...I truly believe that Joe is "the one" for her...and can't wait to read about their date...her first ever "real" one...that was a nice touch...

I love how the Mannings and Arringtons are coming together as one big happy family...sure, there have been bumps along the road...but that's what makes for a great drama...me likey very much...yes, every boy needs a strong male role model in life to become a real man...glad Jules and Joseph are being that for Seleah's boys...if I haven't told you lately...I love this story...now, back to being pushy...need more...I have two whole days before I start the weekly grind again...so hoping for at least one new update...kudos to you!!!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for the in depth update.  I have met a few Seleah's in my lifetime.  It is sad, but as long as we have life here on earth, we can heal.  I will try to get out one more chapter before the weekend is over.  When children are traumatized, it affects everything and everyone that is close to them.  Paula didn't trust any man around her children, but she never imagined that something like this would happen IN the church. The church is supposed to be a sanctuary.  Seleah has been carrying this secret a long time, but its about to all come out.  More is coming soon....I promise!

Seleah makes me want to cry for her.  My goodness to be that old and not really have dated.  How sad.  I was smiling when Joseph had his talk with God.  I hope that he will be able to become the man that Seleah needs.  I think that Joseph and Seleah will be able to help each other deal with their past.  Thanks for a great update.

Author's Response:

Believe me, women like Seleah exist.  I know it's sad to hear their stories.  Thanks for the review. More is coming soon.

Ah snap!!!  Joseph GOd gave you the sign that you wanted, Seleah fell right onto your lap.  I laugh out loud when I read that part.  I have to say this again, Julian is a good man, and so is Joseph now that he is not letting his guilt control his life.  Awesome!!!!  Please let Seleah open up to her family while she's there.
