Title: Chapter 20 - I Will But I Won't

Hmmmm...once again, she is not standing up for what she believes.  Why is that SO HARD for her?? First, no man is as perfect as Jamison appears.  Second, she is just asking for trouble; and she is still letting Jamison...and her sister control her.  And, if Anthony comes back, he will see that ring and thing the worst.  Third, she's not being honest, wearing the ring.  And fourth, If she continues on this way, she really deserveres what she gets...TROUBLE AND HEARTACHE.

Nyeesha

Author's Response:

Well, I'm assuming you're refering to Nat wearing the ring when you say she's not standing up for what she believes in.  With regard to that, I'll say she kept the ring on because Jamison asked her to with what his family would think of her if she took it off in mind.  After what Richard and Anthony did, that's huge for her.  She feels like he cares and sacrifices for her (as far as being patient), so she's willing to sacrifice for him.

I don't know what Nat can do to about Barb other than what she's done.  She cut her off, made the mistake of believing her for half a second, and now she's cut her off again.  Barb seems to be pulling Jamison's strings, and tries to control Nat, but Nat doesn't follow Barb's lead.  Never has.

Title: Chapter 20 - I Will But I Won't

I do not like Jameson. They have only been dating for four months and nothing Nat has done has shown him that she loves him or is ready for that step. Who would propose to someone who has not said I love you once. Did he even tell her that he loved her in the time they were dating before he proposed? Because if not, it makes it seem like Nat is some sort of big fish/unicorn that he can feel slipping away and what's to wrangle her in and not let her go. I honestly feel like Nat unfortunately and unknowingly surrounds herself with people who think they know better than her in terms of Nat's personal and love lives and think that their interference is ok. Taking Barbara's word for Natalia's feelings with out ever talking about those feelings or the topic of marriage with Natalia before hand is just preposterous. And my poor boo Nat keeps falling for the okey doke because Jamison is good on paper but the chemistry doesn't seem to be there and the lack of tact and true concern for if she is emotionally ready for such a step seem to be second hand concerns to his wants for keeping his ring on her finger.

Keep these updates coming because I do want Natalia to win, she doesn't have to be with Anthony and I damn sure hope she doesn't end up with Barbara's man in waiting, but I want her to go for what she wants unapologetically and without feeling that she has to explain her choice or make a choice to please others.

Author's Response:

If you think Nat is some sort of big fish/unicorn to Jamison, I'd have to say you're right--but not necessarily in a completely negative way.  More on that in future chapters.

Nat's vulnerable because of the hurt and guilt she carries.  The only person who is truly benefiting from that right now is Jamison.  But there will come a time when Nat will stop making her needs secondary.  It's a process.

Thanks for reading and sharing your insight, Jae.

Title: Chapter 20 - I Will But I Won't

I want to feel some sympathy for Natalia or like her at least a little bit, but I can't. This is proof that no matter the age, some people will just never get it right. They will continue to be pathetic, stupid and keep making the same mistake over and over again. The people around Natalia will continue to think that she needs to be led through life because that is the impression that she give people, and she also allows it. This stunt of Jamison of proposing to her after only dating a couple of months and clearly also knowing that she is not ready for something as serious as marriage, should be a warning for her. He may be nice and seems perfect, but its also obvious that he manipulative. Being nice and sweet is what he use and will continue to use to gain Natalia's sympathy and do exactly what he wants. And Natalie being a little dense and slow falls in to it. I'm glad that she was at least honest with him about not wanting to marry him, but in a way she is leading him on. She deserves to be happy with someone, but he is clearly not ready for that. In my opinion she needs to be single for a while instead of jumping in to a relationship.

As for her sister, Natalia needs to confront her and cutting her of off her life after this. Her sister clearly did not get the message the first time. If after months of not being on speaking terms with her after what she had done, didn't change her, then she will never change. I know that Barb is her sister and that she love her. But its also obvious that Barb has no respect for her and will continue to but in to her life. Natalia needs to mature and learn to stand up for herself and get rid of people who constantly insist in running her life.

Author's Response:

Nat is who she is.  I can't say we see eye to eye on what exactly that is, but I appreciate you sharing your insight. As far as Barb is concerned, Nat has every intention of cutting her off.  But she is her sister, so who knows.  Thanks for reading and commenting, Grazylisa.

Title: Chapter 20 - I Will But I Won't

So I am very proud of Natalia for being honest about being married and engaged. But I think she isn't helping herself any by wearing that ring so that people can "think what they want." Because Jamison's mother seems like she will be planning and Natalia will have to either go along with it or tell the truth. Now if she could be honest with herself, I feel like she likes who Jamison represents not so much Jamison.

Maybe it's me, maybe I just have no tolerance for BS but Jamison annoys me for so many reasons. (It has nothing to do with me wanting Anthony and Natalia together.) But if he knows that Natalia hasn't spoken to her sister in months why the hell would he think she knows how Natalia feels. Push come to shove he probably knows everything there is to know about Natalia and the fact that he wants her to perpetrate a fraud by wearing that ring says a lot about him to me. Why would he have her wear a ring when he knows she is t ready. I feel like he is no better than Richard because even though Richard was all about keeping her a secret, Jamison is all about making his family believe something rather than Natalia. He might say he wants to take things "slow" but I don't believe him.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

PS: What's Anthony up too? I want to make sure that he doesn't need my shoulder to cry on.

Author's Response:

I think you may be right about Nat liking what Jamison represents.  He is everything Anthony and Richard weren't--happy to be committed, happy to introduce her to his family, and age appropriate with no ties to her dating or marital past--on top of being handsome and successful.  That's kind of hard for a girl to resist, especially when she's facing a ticking clock.

As far as Jamison listening to Barbara rather and Nat, he has a tendency to hear what he wants to hear.  You'll see what I mean with the next update.

LOL @ you offering Anthony your shoulder to cry on!  Anthony is making it do what it do.  More on that next chapter.

So happy she told him the truth. And I'm even happier he's so understanding. That line about him being bad in bed had me looking at Jamison a little different *wags eyebrows suggestively*. And Barbara’s finna get these hands if she doesn’t learn how to stay in her own lane. This was short and sweet. Loved it.

So glad that she told him that wasn't ready for marriage.  Really is a bad idea to wear his ring and still date him. You are making him hope for your love. She needs to beat Barbara for interfering in her life. So good!

Title: Chapter 20 - I Will But I Won't

Oh Lord, Nat! She REALLY should not lead him on. Jamison seems like a cool dude. Well, she did turn down the proposal after the fact which is good, but Jamison deserves better. He seems to be really in love with Nat and I think Nat likes him and even loves him, but as you would love a friend not someone you want to settle with or marry. Why does Nat keep going from one man to another. I mean hey, she is a grown woman and deserves to be happy. That being said she needs to get her head screwed on right and herself together. Is being alone for a little while so bad when you clearly have a problem? Nat needs to fly solo for a while. Jamison deserves someone who loves him in return. Not just a friendly love either. Anyway, great update!

Author's Response:

I agree with your assessment of Nat's and Jamison's feeling toward each other, but I don't know that she's leading him on.  She told him she wasn't ready for marriage or to be engaged (and made that fairly clear before he proposed) and continued the relationship at his insistence.  Whether he deserves better is up for debate, but he's made it clear that what he wants is Nat.

I'm pretty sure Nat would be cool with being by herself.  She didn't date after divorcing Richard, and only ended up with Anthony because of the pregnancy and proximity.  And when that was over, she had no interest in dating, but was convinced to go on a date with Jamison as a way to get over the emotional hump.  And while some time alone is a good idea for her, she doesn't have a lot of time to kill if she wants children, if it isn't already too late.

Thanks for sharing your insight and for reading and reviewing!

Title: Chapter 1 - Cougars

if there was any doubt before know that i DEEETEST Barf *cough* i mean Barb - i just cant! i have no words. the way she lied straight to Natalia's face simly irks me to the MAX. Jamison is a phony! patient and loving my ass...!  he knew exactly where Natalia stood and yet he ambushed her - in front of their families

to me he's like everyone else who seem to think that Natalia needs to be led through life - as if she's a child that doesnt know any better. i would get that if she had been deadly sick as a baby or something but she's not. Talia is stronger then most think. she has been riped apart time and time again - these people dont know anything...!

so out of the blue - i was wondering if you're going to introduce us to Barf's *coughs* i mean Barb's hubby kline? i know he was mentioned briefly previous and that he's sick or something?

other than that - thank you for another brilliant brillant read! :D

Author's Response:

Barf (lol) is deserving of whatever ridicule she garners, and she's not even done yet.  Jamison is open to interpretation.  I can definitely see why you would think he's not as innocent as he seems.  You'll get a little bit of a better understanding of him next chapter.  That may or may not change your mind about him.  At any rate, I agree that people love to think they know what's best for Natalia, and that she's stronger than they and, more importantly, she thinks.

Kline is a brittle diabetic.  He will be appearing in a scene or two in the future, but I don't know that it will be very long or feature any dialogue on his part.

Title: Chapter 1 - Cougars

It's my fault, don't even worry about it.  I once again let you pull me into one these impossible relationships that makes you want to pull your hair out of your head.  First of all, her sister is so conniving.  How could  she miss someone like that?  She should have cut that chick out of her life a long time ago.  She's toxic. What's up with Jamison railroading her into that engagement.  I know this engagment is either  going to end on the way home or it's going to make the Guinness Book of World records for being the looongest engagement in the history of the world.  If Nat goes home and goes upstairs and just out the window...I understand....Next chapter please....What's going with Anthony?

Author's Response:

Lol!  There are no suicide attempts in Nat's near future (though suicidal ideations are all but guaranteed).  However, you will get more insight into why Jamison and Nat did what they did with respect to the engagement, and also what's going on Anthony.  You'll so get to see how conniving Barbara truly is.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, VeMo!

Title: Chapter 19 - The Parent Trap

You know what Jamison was already getting on my nerves earlier but now this.  This was a complete set up and he is a low down, sneaky, snake in the grass as my grandma would've said.   Dude is not genuine and is a slick mofo.  If he was a true person he would've waited more than freakin' 2 mos to propose.  You know darn good and well she is not ready to marry anyone right now.  Her sister still a biatch and conniving ass hoe.  Why do I still think Jamison and her sister have something going on.  Idk why?!  I hope she gives him back his ring as soon as they return to her house and curse his ass out for this bullshit.  Great story and I'm here til the end.

Author's Response:

You may think Jamison and Barbara have something going on behind the scenes because you've got "a seeing eye" as my grandmother used to say.  More on that and Nat's post-proposal response next chapter.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, Lajack!  Glad to have you along for the ride.

Title: Chapter 19 - The Parent Trap

She's not ready ! (In my Kevin heart voice) while I do think Jamison is best for her she's not ready. It's not that I don't like Anthony but they are. In two different places in their life. And she needs someone to balance her and truely adore her not just privately but publicly too. But .... I know Anthony is coming back

Author's Response:

No, Nat ain't ready.  Jamison is generally a good guy, but it remains to be seen if he's what Nat needs or they're merely what the other thinks they want.  I actually think Anthony provides a better balance than Jamison.  Anthony is daring and open (more so than her) where she's careful and guarded.  Jamison, on the other hand, is more like her; and maybe that's exactly what she needs.  We'll see.  And you're right--Anthony will eventually be back.  But for what purpose and how long remains to be seen.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, Redmoon!

Title: Chapter 19 - The Parent Trap

I think Natalia has good instincts, and she should have listened to them. I also think she should disown her lying sister Barbara who is no sister at all.  You know, Jamison seems a wonderful man who has just about everything, but he bulldozed her into this engagement, over her EXPRESS objections.  In other words he is VERY Controlling now and will be in the future.  Unless she wants this type of relationship in her future, I hope she breaks off this forced "engagement."  I think Anthony is her man and I hope that they can find their way back to each other.

Title: Chapter 19 - The Parent Trap

This is exactly what I meant when I said that Natalia needs to grow up and that she allows everyone to run roughshod over. She had no interest in meeting the good doctor's parents yet there she was. She let it go when Jamison surprised her with his whole clan. Then she did not say a word to him about her parents being there. Natalia needs to communicate better.

Author's Response:

I'm not going to split hairs over the definition of "running roughshod" (or "everyone," for that matter).  The fact is, Jamison asked (not demanded) Nat to meet his parents and she agreed as a matter of comprise because he'd been so accommodating.  And no, she didn't confront him about springing their families on her, but the middle of a dinner party is probably neither the right place nor the right time to take him to task for a seemingly innocent surprise.  Open communication, like Nat, is a work in progress.  But she is trying, not that it does her any good.  More on that next chapter.  Thanks for reading and commenting, JFJD.

Title: Chapter 19 - The Parent Trap

First, I want to let you know how much I love this story, and that's saying something since I hate angst, i have way too much going on in my life to enjoy reading someone's emotional rollercoaster, however this story is wonderful and a welcomed exception.

I just have to say, though I know Natalia has her problems and she's frustrating to the point where I'm stressed for her, I do love her character and all her flaws. That said, I HATE HATE Jameson for his manipulating, overbearing attitude. Now I understand why Barbara loves him so much, birds of a feather flock together. What he did is unforgivable, I can't even fault Nat for agreeing, though I just wish she'd just buck up and stand up for herself when it comes to these ridiculous men in her life.

Jameson just, without a doubt, proved to Nat that if they were to continue with this farce of a relationship, that her wants and needs would mean nothing before his wants. His actions have made him much worst than Richard in my opinion.

Author's Response:

Thanks for setting aside your aversion to angst to read my story, Chelah!  So glad you're enjoying it and that you love Nat, flaws and all.  Jamison, on the other hand, did his part to earn you ire.  You'll get a little more insight into his thinking and motivations next chapter, but I doubt it does much to change your opinion of him.  Signs of the old Nat you saw at the very beginning of the story will slowly begin to reappear.  But that's still a little ways off.  Hope to see you there.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, Chelah!

I think she should be alone, rather than messing with Jamieson's heart. He's not the bad guy, never was, but she's coming across as sociopathic to me. I feel her heart is so damaged. Maybe she needs therapy.
