Title: Duplicity

I really disliked Layla and the whole psuedo-terroist plot. It was too bizarre to believe but then I started reading espionage fiction in junior high. Sometimes simplicity and bts intimation makes for a more "almost beliveable" tale, than a story filled w/tons of prepostorus details.

Good grief. I'm glad to be moving on.

I appreciate all of the work and time you invested. Not as well told a story as Good Grief, which I thought was rather miraculous.

Well I guess I appreciate your honesty, harsh as it may be, but I appreciate you giving it your straight-forward opinion. I will say I'm not sorry at how this story came out. I'm happy with the results as it's pretty much how I envisioned it going... It was a completly different type of story. There are still a couple of chapters left and those will focus more on Layla and Sean. This story was never supposed to be purely a romantic drama, the title is Duplicity and it dealt with everyone's duplicity. What to do? I can't please everyone and in the end I went with my gut and it was awesome to write. So thanks for your review as I've always said I appreciate all comments.

Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 1

You maybe didn't read "Beast" by Omniousity or if you had you forgot. A few years ago, she wrote a story where her male character has the same name as yours, is from Russia, worked his way up in the mob, and he had the same nickname as yours does. Oh, the story was set in New York, too.

That's a lot of coincidences - six. It's still posted on this site. You can read the original if you want.

I just started reading "Beast" its awesome. Thanks for pointing it out. Setting a mob story in New York is fairly common because thats where the Russian crime families settled after the fall of the Soviet Union. There's not much i can change because our plots are different. Having him start out as the boss, having already worked his way up the mob, made sense. He was in a position to make whatever move he makes as long as the father allows it.

I might have to get a new nickname? or change where he is from? but thats as much as i am willing to change. Im using my own name and my boyfriends name. When i asked what character he wanted to be in the story he said mob boss. He's a russian, italian american. I just ran with russia. But i might make "nicholi" the character from italy and set him up as one of the heads of the five New York crime families.

I dont want the story to sit in the shadow of anyone elses because of only six similarities. Thanks for pointing it out. Oh and sorry if im rambling i usually talk to people about my plots. Getting imput helps me figure out where i want to go.

Really enjoyed chapter 14. Vast improvement. There was still some disjointedness such as what happened to Laura's gun.

Explanation of why he felt the need to bow to her.

Misspellings don't really bother me and spellcheck doesn't catch them all.

Can't wait until next installment.

Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Facing Facts

OMG! This is extraordinary! Racism in the states is based on skin color. Conclusions about whatever can only be made when you open up the box and learn about who you are. Ethnicity has little to do w/skin color. Toi Derricotte is a professor and sister who has written poetry and essays on this issue. Notably her collection titled "The Black Notebook" has a glossy white cover and the title is embossed on the paper. It doesn't appear in ink. She's a sister who looks white and was forced to pass as a child by her grandmother during her soujourns thru "white people only" dept stores.

Anyway I can't wait until the next chapter and see how he faces his fears and assumptions. & yes people still pass today.

My most fave episode of Law & Order details the case of a "white" man whose white wife (2nd marriage) gives birth to a black baby girl. The white wife from his 1st marriage kills white wife #2 b/c her decision to keep the black baby will out the real race of the 2 firstborn kids to their private school friends. It also comes out that wife #1 was so racist that he (dad) had to pay her to prevent her abandoning her ownkids.

So glad that I stopped to read chapter one.
