In regards to the hidden agenda comment...of which I wholeheartedly believe that the abundant subject matter is to enhance or paint-the-picture of the beliefs of this community not incite conflict amongst the readers.  I must admit the occurrance of race was a  bit overwhelming at first and the thought crossed my mind of 'damn! Is that all they think about?'  Yet as I'm reading Colorless and a few reviews, I'm also watching Celebrity Crime Files on TV-1 and guess what the episode is about? Yep! You got it: racially-motivated hate crimes!! Actually the segment features the 1998 Texas murders of James Byrd & Michael Donald and they're painting-the-picture by taking the audience back in time of when lynchings were a daily ritual that was publicly applauded for their deeds.  It makes you SICK! And ANGRY!  What's even more disturbing and just as real is the bigotry within the Black community.  Oh yes it exists- it exists within my own family. Instances such as my niece wishing that she had "brown spots" on her skin like I do...I had no idea what she was talking about until I realized she was referring to the hair follicles on my arms and legs.  I was heartbroken to discover the magnitude of her insecurities regarding her beautiful, deep chocolate hue.  My brother (her father) taunted my 'light' skin vs his very 'dark' complexion during our childhood. Because of that, I suffered the stigma for years of not being a darker tone- I hated being referred to as red or red-bone. But now...both me and my niece love the skin we're in so....I say all this b/c I realized that people such as the klan eat/shit/and breathe their stupid rhetoric- it's their purpose in life to HATE- to rally and spread their poison amongst their peers.  As much as it's upsetting, we can't escape it.

Btw...lil miss savvy is simply adorable!! How could anyone not fall in love with that beautiful baby and want to hurt her is just mind-boggling.  I'll never understand that kind of hate, that kind of evil; I just hope the family can move away from that dreadful place soon and start anew.  

I like this story, I really do. I love well-written/multi-dimensional-character books that encompasses intrigue, suspense, danger, action-and-adventure...the whole-nine with this genre.  Never been a fan of third-party monkey wrenches used as props to envkoe angst however...your technique with Yani, Malcolm, & Nathan totally works here (brava!) I'd love to see more interaction/dialogue/development between Yani & Nathan.  

ITA with you in regards to cast photos; sometimes they're a major turnoff or killer enhancements.  Usually I purposely avoid looking at the pics b/c I like to or has already envisioned the characters' faces, complexions, body build, etc, in my mind- as I have with Visceral. Idk, I'm on the fence about the imagery; it's your call (haha).

Diya's desire to remain the apple of her father's eye is understandable but when will she put her big-girl panties on initiate introductions?  A lesser guy would act-a donkey as result of not being 'acknowledged'. Thank the stars Branny is a man! It's so refreshing!

Had to reread the whole story as a refresher.  So glad I did. I've missed MY Branny too! Will give a better review later, however, I just had to get this off my chest....Marisol needs-tah-go!  I'm absolutely sick of her. And yes, I'm sick of Brandon's ever-present excuses for his 'friend' and DEFINITELY indulging that damsel at the expense of his beloved treasure that is Diya De La Roy!!!!
