Hmmm... Wonder-freak-in'-ful! Nothing like the miserable curses of the world spreading their poison like the persistent viruses that they are.
Darla gets no credit from me. Gee, didn't she sound a little envious when she told how she got tossed on her ass on May 19th?? How Nicholai treated her compared to Sunny? I believe tha she was a bitch to Priscilla and the staff. Didn't come from shit but had a nasty attitude and a measure of self-importance just because she was a bed-warmer. I doubt her alturism in attempting to open Sunny's eyes and save her.
I'm neither condoning nor excusing his behavior or actions, even his twisted mindset, BUT I believe Nicholai was still at that cold, mean, desperate stage when he did these things. Desperation, hate, and malice lead people to extremes from which they cannot step back onto the safety of solid ground of reason. Sunny knows this. This is part of her capacity to forgive and accept, maintain fate in the flawed people she holds dear to her heart.
Then again, Nicholai has been a hot mess since he realized that he loves Sunny and wants a future wih her. The man is a nervous wreak with that damn black velvet box. The ensuing confrontation will be a deciding factor. Sunshine will get that huge shove out the door that she has been hesitating over.
If there is to be a future between Nicholai and Sunshine, it has to be based on a clean, fresh start.

Oh noooo, the shit has hit the fan for Nikki. Darla sure did him in. She may be trying to change but she didn't need to hurt Sunshine like that eventhough I think she still was trying to get back at Nikki. I feel Sunshine may do something in the heat of the moment and regret it. Nikki has alot of explaining to do and I just don't see him succeeding. I feel it will be splitsville for them. Sniff, sad!!! Darla needs to go hide under a rock.

Nice update. I hope Sunny leaves him. Nickoli should have left it alone. Darla had a heart after all. Jacob knew what he was doing when he killed himself. Trying to get his baby out of the clutches of a mad man...who believes he is in love, but, puts her in a sort of prison.

Onimosity, I'm a review behind. I apologize. I'm behind period on some stories/reviews. I do not read ahead, though, as much as I'm tempted to when I see that beautiful new banner. So, here goes...
OMG, this was so... sad... revealing... touching... SAD. Damn. Whew!! What a chapter. What turn of events.Well, was Peanut really done in? Where the hell is Darla?? She makes my left eye twitch… a little nervous thang. Has Nicholai covered his tracks for anything about Jacob that Sunny will process once the initial shock of grief starts to wear off? He has let some little details such as having Jacob followed, etc. slip recently.Ben is such a precious child. Jacob. He hardened his heart to his father, reconciled himself to Jacob's ultimate fate... Sunny's perpetual optimism. He worships his sister.I love how he kept telling Nicholai that he knew hjm… knew who he was and who he was to Sunny. Yet he bravely did what any good brother would do, threatened to protect his sister. I believe that conversation and their gesture of unity and bonding over pistachio ice cream was a sign of mutual respect.There are subtle changes in Nicholai. But the darkness and rage are still there, never far from boiling to the surface. Damn, Rome wasn’t built in a day, a wild stallion tamed overnight, and a ferocious lion made a vegetarian. <Sigh>I’m torn. Sunny is too young, too vibrant not to go forth and make her stamp on the world, share her capacity to spread love, hope, and caring. On the other hand, I can see her remaining with Nicholai. How will either mend their broken heart should she leave?
I'm sad. I have this feeling of forboding. A heart will be broken.Damn, I love this story and these characters, even Nicholai’s scary obsessive intense self.

Wow! Didn’t see that one coming but I loved it. Loved that Darla came clean with Sunshine, especially about who she was, even to the day she was kicked out of his bed and Sunny entered his web. Darla atoned for betraying a friend, probably the only true friend she’s ever had. And I think in doing so, Sunny may somehow gain peace with the knowledge that her father tried to free her.
It’s no secret I’m not a fan of Nikolai. While I don’t necessarily despise the prick, he still enslaved a young woman for his own sexual gratification. He stole years of her life just because he could. Did he treat her horribly? No. Still, he held a price over her head: the lives of her family. What choice did she have?
I hope Sunny can move on, put the past behind her and make something of herself and Benjamin. Nikolai Andreovich will undoubtedly be upset - for a minute - but he’ll be ‘back in the saddle’ again whenever another ‘beautiful’ opportunity crosses his path.

Ah Onimosity, the other shoe has dropped, finally... It was so easy for Darlene Jasmine O’Reilly to ride into town with her 'guilty conscience' and paint that picture of Nikolai. Darla serves only one person, Darla. To hear her tell her side of the story, Nikolai is truly the 'Beast' in the story. But she left out a few parts as well in order for Sunny to see what she (Darla) wanted her to see. I hope Sunny gives him a chance to tell his side of the story and trust her instincts when it comes to this very complex man. He deserves to be heard with an open heart and mind before she rushes out the door... But I suspect he may just going to let her go without trying to redeem himself or his actions... Now that Darla has told Sunny about the 'true nature of Nikolai' who would now talk on his behalf...

Thank you for the update. I believe that Sunshine is still going to stay with Nikolai even after she knows what he has done to Jacob. Sunshine is just like her mother and will try to change Nikolai.

OMG! Where do we go from here. She has the right to be angry with him he had her as she says but this is a lot for her to take in. That he would temp his father as he had with the money and the access to the clubs and casinos...with Darla.
I so want her and him to be together but has this killed her love for him has this made her doubt his love for her his kindness for her?
Thank you for the update. I wanted to slap Darla in the face but I guess this needed to be told but I so wish that it would have came from Nikki and not Darla. He paled he actually paled when he saw the envelope and it's contents on the desk. He loves her with all his heart and soul and was and continues to change for her. Devastating just devastating.
Love this story love this couple and I bet Sergei is just waiting in the wings to get to her but she is not yours Sergei only your friend only your friend.

Okay...my heart just broke...I know this is a dark fic...but darn it if I wasn't hoping against hope that it would have a happy ending...okay...I officially hate Darla...do I believe for a second that she was suddenly struck by conscience and decided to do the right thing by her 'friend' Mr. Coffee...hell naw...that skank has been looking for ways to exact her revenge on Nikolai...and damn, if Jacob's death didn't place that means to an end squarely in her lap...she didn't tell Sunny what she told her out of any altruistic deed on her part...I refuse to beleive that...also, her getting the hell out of Dodge solidified my assumptions once Sunny found proof of Nikolai's betrayal in Jacob's apartment...good riddance to her...
Okay...so I'm not trying to justify Nikolai's actions...he was dead wrong with what he did to Jacob...damn, Jacob would have backslided on his own...but I'm trying to empathize with why he did what he did...Nikki has never had someone to truly love him in his life...that was until Sunshine...and fool that he was...he tried to hold on to that love the only way he knew how...with manipulation and deceit...more fool him, huh...it nearly broke me to read Sunny's reaction to Darla's disclosure...'he already had me'...poor Nikolai...poor Sunny...my heart weeps for them both...oh, why, oh why, oh why...

That's not a bright side. She knows what Nikolai was when she made the deal with him and no matter how he changed with her she had to know what kind of man he still is. Darla may have come to care for her dad, but she still did it out of anger, that wasn't done as a favor to Sunny, to help her out.
I have no doubt she will leave him now, and have Sergei thinking he will have a chance!! Loved the update.

So I guess Darla finally did something good...she really did have a heart for Jacob. Now it's up to Sunny to decide what she will do and if she can forgive Nikolai. She had to find out eventually about the money, but I am surprised he didn't have the apartment checked out to get the money back. Great update...anxiously looking forward to the next one.

His dusha..His prelest' dusha! Chickens come home to roost, eh Nikki? Well since he was horrified and resigned, he knew it was coming..I hope he has a plan..cause I'm pretty sure his Sunshine developed one as she left her former home..
I knew this chapter started so sweet and powerful for a reason..I don't hate Darla..she learned some lessons herself..and all of the stuff that happened between Nikolai and Jacob needed to be revealed..Nikolai told Sunny he demanded loyalty from people in his life..that's another way to say he must be able to trust you..and Sunny must be able to trust him..so the truth needed to be told..and now their relationship has to deal with the fall out..can all they mean to each other withstand Nikolai's treachery? It is yet to be determined! I have faith in Sunny and Nikki....I have faith! LOL..
Good job on the reveal to Sunny..Good bye Darla and good riddance..

Sunny Knew that Nikki was not a Paragon of virtue but it still hurt when she been sheild from who he really is when she is not around.
Now all he can do is come clean and hope that Sunny forgives him.
I know that eventhough they had not said they love each other they do.
