love love love the chapter. I am glad that she is out there getting answers. I do feel so bad that she feels like she has to keep all things hidden. But the back story on the McBain family was great.
Author's Response: I'm so happy you loved it. Evangeline knows that something is up and she's determined to figure it out. It'd be nice if she could be honest with Hugh but then again how do you tell someone that you not only hunt vampires but that you're a hybrid human? Couldn't be easy hahaha.

Nice chapter. Interesting to find out about the McBain family history. I'm sure Caleb's turning was a lot more complicated than Michael realizes.
Can I just say again that Evangeline needs to break up wtih Hugh? I just don't get why she stays with him when she knows she can't make him happy. Oh and John and Caleb being identical brothers makes any Caleb/Van bonding a little icky to me. It's like her sexing up Michael. Ew.

So much info in this chapter, so much backstory. Really puts Caleb in a different light. Loved how you wrote Michael, his anger and fear felt really authentic and totally understandable.
Really liked the closing too; I can't say I blame him for being weary of Evangline. Not after everything that's happened to his family.

I just couldn't stop reading once I started. I admit, I was never a John fan and always a Tangie fan. But I will always be a fan of vampire lure. This is just a great story and I can't stop reading.

I am really glad that you like this, I am a huge fan of vampire lore as well and I am thoroughly enjoying this alternative take on Evangeline and Jovan/Tangie wars. I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of John at the moment which is why I had to kill him off. For those comic book fans out there Caleb to me in a way is like Superman-Prime to John's Superman: he's darker, less morally driven, more complex. But he has a clean slate with Evangeline which makes it easier for me to write for them as a potential couple.

Hugh is a smart guy. I feel for him and Evangeline pretty much lied to his face about her reaction to Todd. Have to wonder why she doesn't do the decent thing and just let him go so he can find someone that can make him happy.

I'd like to think that Evangeline is lying more to herself than Hugh when it comes to her feelings about either Todd or Caleb, though she may be intrigued and attracted to them, given her history and being a slayer she is very clear that she doesn't want to be involved with either of them, she kind of has a war raging inside of herself I think and it won't be getting any easier. I think Evangeline does love Hugh and I hope that this comes across in my writing, I think she would like nothing more than to be with Hugh and have a normal life but she struggles with knowing that she will never be normal. Evangeline has pretty much always been alone other than Layla who's on the other side of the ocean so I think she is selfishly hanging on to Hugh because he's the only one that she has and next to Layla he knows her as well as anyone (save the all the vampire stuff). Obviously there's a price to be paid for trying to have your cake and eat it too though. . .
Sorry BlackMa, the tangelines are going to step aside for a minute though because it's Caleb's turn to bat hahaha.

Oh I liked this chapter. Todd and Evangelne's little dance is so hot and I'm liking Yul. Todd's reaction to Blair made me laugh out loud. Great chapter.
