This is a story about a woman who keeps fighting to live despite the fact that life keeps showing her that sometimes it is better to be dead than alive.
That was really tragic! I felt deeply sorry for her losing her Acting job because, apparently it is a love in her life, perhaps her only worthwhile meaning for her. And then to go on and read her horrible childhood; experiencing forced coitus at 7years of age because her drug addict mother sold her. In America we really only believe such atrocities occur in starving 3rd world countires, so its shocking to see it happening here.
Story was very well written and character very well drawn and believable.

Can two people fall in love after what is only suppose to be a One night stand? Nykia Walden and Antonio Bronson share a night that neither can forget. Was it only a one night stand or did these two share more than lust?
Good for Nykia, I'm proud of her, she kept her dignity during all that crushing pain while she took care of business.
Reviewer: 5Danielle Signed That's heavy, Antonio cancelled his intention to become engaged to Michelle because he found out she aborted their baby, and he did not know she was pregnant. It's definitely true what he said: that he did not love her nor she him, it was just a suitable marriage for them both, almost a business arrangement with benefits. Otherwise, he would not terminate any further relationship with her just because she aborted and without prior discussion with him.
But, he loves children and wanted them; also a business arrangement requires trust and she showed she could not be trusted because she did this very important action behind his back without prior discussion with him and she never even shared with him she was pregnant. I understand his point of view about trust, what would she be like in a marriage. So, best not to bind himself to her legally. However, i also think he must been having second thoughts about marrying her before this surprise.

Wilson's brother, Mark is certainly behaving like a piece of filthy trash. Mark, is jealous of Nykia's femininity, especially with Chad's appreciative comments to her. So he slanders his brother as being a homosexual and tells Nykia that Wilson does not love you he wants men but won't admit it. Mark does not know if Wilson has chosen to deviate from heterosexuality! Mark is typical in his viciousness, his family was evidently right to shun him and brother Wilson may regret he has not done the same!

This story gave me much enjoyment; very well written, lots of fun and beautiful exciting love making. It also very realistically told how a ONS can really be the true love of your life. Usually, it does not turn out that way but, in Nykia, the first Black woman Antonio ever dated, he discovered in her special attributes, racial and personality; a fulfillment and happiness to a depth of his being not previously experienced nor conceived possible. And that is Love, it is a wonderful mystery that is self-defined!

Love how Harry handled those wannabe rapists of Evangeline, also the fighting he did was believable, logical that a very experienced gangster such as himself, definitely could take them both down, as so wonderfully described.
This is some really good writing; descriptive, revealing REAL people and very interesting persons. I've glimpsed several stories on this site and found very few that have this kind of creative, exciting and highly skilled writing.
LOL, Harry did a rush job on making his room look decent the way I sometimes have to do for unexpected company! Yeah!...,made me smile.
The dress Harry bought Eva is beautiful and in good taste. This story takes place in 1930's not too distant since Civil War ended. Raven, I''m glad you have realistically included the racism for this very violent racist era instead of white washing it.
The sex is HOT! but I'm real glad it doesn't happen between Harry and Eva during their initial getting acquainted, that would make it too much like "jungle fever"; by happening later it was two real individuals having a genuine interest in each other.
And Damn! The sex is HOT throughout this chapter! But Harry made love to Evangeline not just fucking; great lover and wonderful man-muscle he's got. I also loved the Billy Holiday songs Eva sings and the gangster action.
This is a long comment but, just love this chapter so much and there's so much life in it. Really super great writing Raven!

I have always been alone and that was all I knew how to be. My mother and father only showed up on two occasions: my dreams and my nightmares. In my dreams, they were normal people who worked nine-to-five jobs. They were always there when I needed someone to talk to. We lived in a suburban area where all the neighbors watched me grow up. We were average people in my dreams, but in my nightmares, the truth came out. My mother was a city prostitute with a drug addiction. She slept with numerous men; consequently, my father had a name or a face. For all I know, he was just a quick [ rendevous ] to help her habit. I have bounced around from different foster homes, never finding a place that I was truly happy with or that was ever happy with me.
OH! Damn! Now I'm really lovin this story; another young vagrant, this time a Black girl. Jake was ready to cut out back to being a vagabond but I think her surprise visit, almost strangling him cause she thought him a prowler may get him to stay, I think he thinks she's cute.
