Yes, but they have different reasons. Allegra still loves her late husband and being in love with someone else is the same as cheating on him. Chris gave up on love when his fiancée cheated on him. He doesn't want to experience heartache ever again.

Your review just made me sighed in happiness. You figured out a lot. That's all I can tell you. I don't want to spoiler...but I'm glad that you picked out that Chris really lacks basic common sense. He's an intelligent guy and everything, having degress and masters, he is formidable when it comes to maths and economics and any logical reasoning, but when it comes to dealing with life he's so bloody pointless that it hurts. I'm happy that it came across. That's what I wanted. Someone who cant deal with everyday life problems and complicates everything.

Laurence is much more fun now, I guess. Less a jerk, more a friend.

You'll find about Blake in the next chapter. And yes, he is the reason why she's guarded. She doesn't need love. She's happy the way she is. I think that is the similarity between them. Chris doesn't want to admit that he likes her not only on the physical level. He's just using an excuse to cover for his feelings. I guess that's pretty obvious and pathetic from his part. However, he needs stability and security so he's costantly repeating to himself that he just wants sex and then he'll be okay, back to his life. Obviously, that won't happen. At the end of the day, we've seen how Allegra has a huge impact on his life. Yeah, he's attracted, but his feelings go much deeper than that. I'm just happy that he will see the light. You'll see that in the next chapter.

There is chemistry indeed! Allegra is not his type. Chris is not known for dating outside his race. He doesn't have anything against black women. And he really seriously dated only his ex, Caterina who was the typical Mediterranean: olive skin, dark hair and eyes. A bit latina, we could say. He thought that was his type....and then he found himself attracted to Allegra. And then he doesn't want to like anyone at the moment.
