Amaris Manning was a woman that was over six feet tall.  Julian Arrington was just a little over five six.  They were attracted to one another from the beginning, but would it be a good fit?  She was sexually repressed.  He was sexually promiscuous. She was looking for a relationship and he was avoiding one at all costs. She was black and he was white.  They were totally opposite in every way, yet their hearts didn't seem to hear their heads talking!

Title: Chapter 22: Chapter 19 I Want To Be Made Whole

Okay...I usually don't review on workdays...but I read this last night and I just had to come on and comment...the reveal was even more painful and heart-wrenching than I could have imagined...so much pain...the nerve of Bernard Walker...as if his "hush" money would wipe away the destruction that his sick, depraved father has wrought...I was so angry for Seleah...how dare he...to "protect" his mother...a woman who had to know just what kind of monster she was married to...to save her "reputation" and their family's "good" name...the truth needed to come out...though I ache for Dem and Seleah...poor disillusioned Dem...feeling so hurt and betrayed...but I do know that time heals all wounds...some are just deeper than others...I got physically sick picturing that sick bastard Walker crowing like a peacock after just raping a young child and washing himself with satisfaction...death was too good for him...the sick puppy...I have no words for what I want to do to him and others like him that do such unspeakable, despicable things to children...

I'm glad that Joe was there for Seleah...for so long she's carried this burden ...now is the time to lay that burden down...I know she feels like she's lost her son...but I have faith in Dem...he'll come around...eventually...hopefully sooner rather than later...and poor Marri...besides feeling ill about Walker did to her...she has to be feeling some type of survivor's guilt...now knowing the truth about just how much her sister sacrificed for her...they do all need counselling...this was such a painful, yet powerful update...I look forward to what comes next...and congrats on your son's upcoming wedding...you'll be the belle of the ball as the proud mother of the groom...keep the updates coming...

Title: Chapter 23: Chapter 20 Rebuilding After The Storm

Poor Amaris...I hope she doesn't keep torturing herself about the possibility of what Walker might have done to her...maybe that lost memory will be a blessing in disguise and she was forced like Leah to relive those awful memories everyday...though the not knowing could have its own set of pitfalls...and I don't want that to affect her relationship with Julian...hope she realizes that Jules loves her simply for being her...and nothing she learns will ever change that simple fact...

Now you know I have a soft spot for Leah...strange huh...but I'm now her biggest champion...and she deserves the kind of love that Joe has in store for her...she just needs to learn to have a bit of patience...but I totally understand her eagerness for affection because for so long she's thought of herself as totally worthless...Joe is good for her soul and her self-esteem...but Leah baby...let the man do right by you...let him show you that there's more to intimacy than mere physical attraction and sex...he's slowly showing her that what that monster took from her did not devalue her as a person deserving of love...that yes, she Seleah is totally deserving of giving and receiving love the right way...poor thing...after thirty-two years and three children...the poor woman had never experienced a real orgasm...Leah's like a kid locked in a candy shop...she's tasted the taffy...and now she wants more and more...patience my dear...it will be well worth the wait...

Now Gerald Jackson is what I call a real man...one who knows that fatherhood is more than simple biology...he took responsibility for a child he knew was no way possibly his own flesh and blood and loved him because he is a real man...and I loved that he wouldn't allow Dem to disrespect him or his feelings for him because Dem is hurt...Dem will come around...and he'll realize that Gerald is his father in all the ways that truly matter...

Gosh, I can't wait for more...I hope the wedding will be a smashing success!!!!

Title: Chapter 34: Chapter 32 Tell Me This Is A Dream

Brenda...have I told you lately how much I love this story...well, I do...and though I love all the characters in this tale...I have developed such an affinity for the Seleah character...she's so very fragile but even though she doesn't know it yet...she's very strong and resilient...a survivor...I love the way Joseph loves her and she him...true love when you are blessed enough to find it...is extraordinary...and that's what those two have...but, now I am becoming frustrated...I so want them together as man, wife, and family...but I do understand the hesitation on Seleah's part...it's easy to understand how a person whose self-esteem and by extention...self-worth that has always been almost nil would be frightened by the wonderful possibilities that a life with Joe will represent...she knows that Joe loves her...she knows she feels the same about him...yet she hesitates...I'm glad she is seeing the therapist...someone professional who can see with a clear eye what she's going through and helping her to forgive herself...I do think that's her main problem...and leads to why she's feels so worthless...she hasn't forgiven herself for her past...something she has no way of changing...but her future is bright...she just has to learn to accept it for what it is...and believe that yes, she truly deserves happiness and love in her life...

I pray that you want torture us much longer and just let these two be married and together...I know Joseph is a man of conviction...but even a man that is pure of heart has a breaking point at some point...and Joe is dangling close to edge...please have pity on them and us  soon...LOL...can't wait for the next update...still loving this wonderful story...

Author's Response:

tHANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL REVIEW!  The wedding is coming very soon.  Joseph doesn't want to wait and I don't think Seleah wants to wait either.  LOL.

Title: Chapter 35: Chapter 33 Dreams Can Come True

Yay, so happy for Joseph and Seleah...oh, how I love how truly "innocent" Seleah is...it's like she experiencing a sexual reawakening...something she should have had a long time ago...but after much strife and heartache...she's finally found the one she's meant to be with...and they can explore each other together...in love and with love...I wish Dem would just be happy for his mother...I know he's hurt and he has a right to feel a bit betrayed...but his mother did what she did out of survival and to try to give him as much "nolmalcy" as she could...and Gerald is his father in every way that matters...a true gentleman who didn't take advantage of a young, vulnerable girl but be her friend when she needed one...guess this is something he will have work out for himself...I also think that knowing he was a product of rape has made him distrustful of men who supposed to be father figures in his life...

Amaris...give it up...give that man another child...yes, they both love Justine and nothing will ever change Justine being their daughter...but Julian wants that connection with his wife that only a child of their own will bring them...

Loved the update...keep 'em comin'...

Lorilei Riley is a large black girl who was uprooted at age five when her mother marries and relocates to the small mostly white mining town of Appalachia.  She is the object of ridicule and scorn.  She immediately bonds with Micah Hamilton a young classmate who is also an outsider because of a large growth on his face.

Micah gets a chance at a normal life by having a surgery to remove the growth and Lorilei wonders as they both reach adulthood if Micah has remained with her out of friendship and loyalty or if a guy like him, could really come to  love a plus size girl like her.

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

So happy that the nevus on Micah's face isn't more serious and the doctors were able to help him and he can continue to work and provide for his family...

Ronald Riley is a psychopath...Lei would do well to keep her distance from that fool...he thinks of and treats Lei as his possession...he has never been a father to her...and now that he can't father any more kids...he's taken his obsession of her to another level...he's such a coward...he beat poor Candace six ways to Sunday and still hasn't admitted that he's the one with the problem...a true indication of an abuser...he needs to blame others for his own violent behavior because he can't nor does he want to deal with the monster he truly is...he was 'provoked'...hmmf...he's a coward of the worst kind...and I can't wait until the day he runs into someone bigger and stronger than he who will give him a taste of his own medicine...

Love the update...can't wait to see the madness that Ronald Riley brings to Lei's graduation...

Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 1 Looks Can Be Deceiving

I don't know how you do it, Brenda...but girl, you've done it again...I'm loving this new story already...such a sweet little love story developing...I like the protector and the protected growing up together and realizing they are falling in love type of stories...and that's what I'm hoping happening between Lei and Micah...I'm already in love with Joe Bob...such a sweet, gently simple loving soul...loved that Lei sees him as her 'Papa'...what a sweet sentiment...I can't wait for the real drama to begin...and if I know anything about your writing style...it will be quite the journey...looking forward to a continuation of this story and your other one...you continue to impress me...

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

Brenda...why do you keep doing this to me...just when I think you've reached the zenith in storytelling...you come up with another compelling drama that tops the last...I've read SP and knew it was the bomb...then you had to go and put up Amaris and Julian's story...and had me thinking "now, this right here is IT"...but no...you've totally stolen my heart with this story...I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS TALE...I feel like a kid at Christmas whenever you put up another chapter...damn, you're good...LOL...

Love me some Teddy Lee...love a man with real, purposeful conviction...and how the chickens have come home to roost...when Joe Bob was explaining to him how he fell head-over-heels in love with Candace...Mr. Teddy Lee couldn't believe his ears...and now, wham...the same exact thing has happened to him with his Beanie...boy did he have to figuratively and literally have to eat his words...but boy did he put it on Miss Sabrina...got the girl contemplating marriage...love the leverage he's using...LOL...and she talks a good game...but I'm hearing wedding bells and already picturing her knitting baby booties in the near future...makes me want go find me a good ole country boy and have my way with him...but seriously...I think Sabrina is gunshy when it comes to love and marriage...what a terrible thing to happen to a first time bride...but life is for living...and all life's a chance...grab happiness when it comes knocking at your door...

Micah...that's a young man raised with morals and conviction...and Lei's it for him...too bad that she keeps looking at herself through society's eyes...she's a beautiful person inside and out...and Micah sees the beauty from within...hope she doesn't push him into the arms of another because she feels so insecure about not being "good enough" for him...I wish she learns to see herself as he sees her...as his love and soulmate...I know there is drama coming...but Micah will not give up so easily...he truly love her...anywho...enough of my rambling...can't wait for the next update...

Author's Response:

thanks for the review.  Ramble all you want!  I love it.  It's you guy's reviews that fuel my muse!  Teddy and Joe were raised in the church and when they lay down with a woman, it's for a lifetime!  LOL.

Micah is not affected by all the attention around his looks now, because of what he had to put up with as a child. He feels that he is the same person on the inside and that people judge him by his looks without really knowing him as a person.   This is why he's not tempted by the beautiful girls, but he is going to face a challenge.

MOre is coming soon.

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

Lei is beginning to frustrate...me....I don't know what it's like to be a plus-size girl...but every woman has had something at some time to feel insecure about in her life...her insecurities are in fact causing the very the thing that she fears most...losing Micah...she knows that he loves her and only her...she knows that he wants her...she feels it everytime she is in his presence...yet it's not enough...still she is finding ways to push him away...Micah has been a stand-up guy from the beginning...and he trusts in his love for Lei...but she can't seem to do the same thing for him...he has never given her a reason to believe that he has not been anything but honorable...she knows what his intentions are toward her...yet she's still coming up with idiotic excuses as to why they can't be together...it would be a very tragic thing for a love so sweet to be lost because of insecurity and trust issues...Lei does not trust Micah to love her for herself...she's being very irrational now...and Micah is at the end of his rope...I know how difficult it is to always have to do all of the heavy-lifting emotionally in a relationship...a relationship should be a partnership  between two people and right now it seems as though that poor Micah is in it by himself...he loves this girl with all his heart...and what should be the happiest time in their lives is now miserable because of Lei's trust issues...I hope she changes her tune and soon...it is not fair to Micah to make him wait in limbo forever...either she loves him and trusts him to love her the same...or she needs to back out of his life and let him try to find someone who can return his love the same way...

More please!!!

Author's Response:

More is up.  Lei has a new attitude with some help from a new friend!

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

Oh, Brenda...you've turned me into a greedy junkie for this story...I check incessantly now for my "fix"...and you never disappoint...LOL...

This chapter was totally hilarious...Miriam and the church ladies...scandalous hussies is what they are, LOL...Sara and Amy were a hoot...but so glad they hooked Lei up showed her how to use that hourglass figure to her advantage...had poor Micah drooling...and Lei flirting with Jerome...thought Micah was about to put a beatdown on that poor, besotted boy...glad to finally see Lei gain confidence and is starting to use those generous curves that the Good Lord has given her...she's driving that boy insane...Micah wants himself some Lei..and if he doesn't get it soon he's going to burst...come on Brenda...they're both eighteen now...so be kind...give Micah...and us what we want, LOL...okay...so I'm a hussy too...

Can't wait for the next update...

P.S...Beanie and Teddy Lee ain't playing around either...pretty soon there will be a houseful of Newtons...

Author's Response:

LOL!! I am so tired after writing those two chapters.  Now I'm trying to update the other story before someone starts to complain.  I had been updating at work, but things are starting to get busy and a lot of time by the time I get home, I'm tired and my muse is just gone.  I do best in the morning.

However, Micah and Lei consumation is coming up.  They both are eighteen now and I want my muse to be fresh for some really hot sex!!!  So believe me, it's coming.  (Hopefully this week!)

Title: In The Eyes of the Beholder

I know I've been a very bad girl...haven't reviewed in a looooonnng time...forgive me because I so adore this story...and contrary to popular belief...BEAUTY IS INDEED IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER...I have been a little bitty thing my whole life...but does supposed to make me more desirable than any other woman...I've been told that I am attractive...but fortunately for me...I was taught to love the whole person for what they are inside...because physical beauty fades...and if a relationship is based strictly on looks...then I foresee a doomed relationship...

I don't find anything unbelievable about Micah's feelings and love for Lei...Lei has always been there for him even when most others didn't consider him to be "beautiful"...she fell in love with his true heart...his core that makes him, him...and he in turn did the same with her...they literally grew up together...been through the bad as well as the good times together...they are as Lei said...each other's rock...their love itranscends much more than the physical...it's a true love that comes only once in a lifetime and is only destined for a lucky few...and you've written their lovestory so believably beautiful...it actually touches my heart...

Beth is a skank who had to get her face cracked because she too has bought into the fallacy that ALL MEN PREFER THIN and light-skin...not true...and has never been true...glad Micah had eyes only for his Lei...I see he is beginning to get a bit impatient with waiting to make her his wife...this is a true test of their love for one another...he just has to realize that Lei needs the time to grow and become her own woman and not be afraid of that and trust in their love...

I'm sorry if it makes me sound like a bad person...but I felt almost no sympathy for Ronald Riley...he was a disturbed individual who lashed out at others because the world was unfair to him...I know it's true...hurt people hurt others...but I can't get over the fact this 'man' actually beat his wife when she was only trying to offer him solace during his time of need...Candace is a better person than me...because I'd probably had danced at his funeral...but alas...she knows he was Lei's father and no matter what the circumstance...all children want and need to feel love from their parents...no matter how horrible they are...glad he did realize and hear what Lei said at least made the effort to better himself...but like I said earlier...I will not be crying tears of sympathy for him...just feel sorry for Lei because she lost what she never truly had...

Enough of my rambling...love this story...small request...can a get a little bit more of Beanie and Teddy Lee soon...thanks again, Brenda!!!

Author's Response:

thank you for your wonderful review.  You really "get"  Lei and Micah.  They have been there for each other since age 5.  Since they have been together for such a long period, Lei feels that they need to see other people, not on a sexual level, but to meet and go out with others without feeling guilty.  Some people didn't agree with me on that, but I think that expanding your horizons is important.  As for Ronald Riley, he was disturbed.  He loved Lei, but was too overcome by his own grief in the loss of his only other living relative, his mother to show her.  You don't have to feel sympathy for him, and you are right.  Hurting people hurt people.  I've been thinking about Teddy and Beanie and I'm sure that I can work them in the next chapter.  This story is my next to update.  Thanks again and stay tuned.

stories/1679/images/1----By_Kaleah_forever_and_a_day_2.jpg

Tyler could count on one hand the number of attempted, but failed relationships that he had; had. It was getting to the point that he just was ready to give up on finding love or the right person he could give his entire self to. Most of the women he had a relationship with didn't last long not because they didn't want it, they just couldn't handle his faults or flaws. Tyler Hollis had a secret an extremely large secret that over the years, he had learned how to control to an extent, but at some point in the relationship, it would become the topic of conversation and downhill the relationships would go. He was looking for that one special woman that wouldn't mind them; he wasn't sure if she was the one, but the way he was feeling about her he wanted to make her the one. It wasn't very many women he had wanted in his thirty-eight years, but her he felt he couldn't live without.

♥ ஒ Love ஒ ♥...

Kayla had only had two real relationships in her life, okay let's be honest one and she wasn't even sure that was the real thing. It had been over seven years ago. She had always focused on her career, she was what they called a workaholic, her best friends India and Traci would tell her she was sexually deprived, that she needed to started living before she woke up one morning and life had passed her bye. However, never in her right mind did she think she would be in a predicament like this, it was totally out of her character to let something like this happen, and to let it happen like this. It was overwhelming more like surreal an impulsive act, or so she thought. Could it have been a calculating move on his part or was it just something that happened to happen. But if they both were completely honest with themselves it had been building ever since that faithful snowy morning.

♥ ஒ Love ஒ ♥...

Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Loved this, Brenda!!!

Good for Henny...she didn't allow Henry's wrong to change what's in her heart and therefore, let vengeance and hatred rule her life...and despite everything...she had/has a good life...a life Henry and his parents deemed she shouldn't be allowed to have...but her mother ensured that she had...I feel so sorry for Vanessa...and sorry, but I can't muster up one smidgeon sympathy for Henry at all...and I doubt that he "loved" anyone but himself...he's a weak, selfish tool...but as with all things in life...you live and you learn...the good with the bad...

Great short, and Merry Christmas!!!

Author's Response:

Henry now realizes the consequences of his bad decision.  He has all the wealth that he was afraid to lose, but he's never going to be happy.  I have a feeling that even the restoration of his health will not keep him from thinking about his bad choice.

Author's Response:

Henry was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  How many 19 year olds would have chosen differently?  I don't know.  But his life will never be the same.

Title: Chapter 1: Sweet Baby

That was the hotness as always, Brenda...you've captured the essence of these two and their steamy, passionate, yet oh-so-forbidden love affair.  I have no doubt that these two people love each other...even Fitz...though I know most view him as a philandering dog...maybe so...but he is quite simply..."addictive"...poor Olivia...what's a girl to do...

I wished that she could fall for someone like the D.A...sure, he's not what some would consider "sexy" enough or traditionally handsome...nor does he possess the type of power that President Grant does...but he is a steady...good man...honest to a fault...and if we lived in a world where we could pick the one we fall in love with instead of the reality of having love and passion finding and claiming you without logic...he would be the choice I would make for Olivia...but alas...the heart wants what the heart wants...and settling for second-best is hardly satisfying...darn, why did you have to do this to me...Scandal's is fast becoming my brand-new guilty pleasure...I hope it gets renewed...can't wait to see how things play out between Liv and Fitz...the looks alone can scorch concrete...burn a hole through the wall...let me stop rambling...

Great one-shot...I promise not to beg for another chapter...but I wouldn't complain if you gifted us with another one-shot in the future...

Author's Response:

Yes, I like the DA too.  I'm glad they're friends.  I don't think Olivia chooses a man by looks alone.  Fitz is much older than she is but the chemistry just blows you away.  The people around her are all complex individuals and the show just draws you in.   I am sure that there is more to the DA also than meets the eye and if the show continues, I hope they explore his life too.

Thanks for the review.

Loved this!!! So hot and sexy...but then again, this is my one and only TB ship...love Sam and Tara...they hooked me too and I've been waiting all these years for the writers to come to their senses and put them back together...but alas, they've turned my Tara into a vampire (though I was so glad she turned to Sam in her time of need ater she was turned when she couldn't trust Sookie and Lala anymore)...I don't know if a shifter and a vamp will work...but I still have my fingers and toes crossed that Tam is meant to be if there really is a meant to be in the Truverse...look forward to reading more of your stories...again, thank goodness for fanfic...

Author's Response:

Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Paying the Piper

This is getting good...real good, lol...can I just say I love Mom and Pop Pop Nightinggale...nothing like a little of that "old school" wisdom...now let's see if Stephan and Cara can get this thing right before the newest additions to the family arrive...let the courtship begin...

I'm going out on a limb here...bet there will be a problem with Stephan's parents but nothing like a new grandchild(ren) in the mix to change people's ways of thinking...

Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Let No Man Put Asunder

Brenda...so sorry I haven't been able to leave as many reviews as I would like...but I'm back to work now and can only read/review in the late night after I finish my work...but as usual...this story is superb...love that Cara and Stephan have fallen in love...but...you know there is always a but in there...why do old cranky cudmudgeons like to throw salt in the game...instead of sitting his old, cranky decrepit behind somewhere in a nursing home chilling and trying to get right before he meets his maker...old Douglas is after some mischief...I knew everything was going along too swimmingly well...just waiting for you to throw the monkey wrench in there...I hope Cara has matured enough not to choose fight instead of flight once again when old Doug comes after her...this time she has three babies to think of and a father and grandparents who love his/their children/grandchildren very much...she wouldn't think to hurt Stephan like this again...or would she...I hope I'm wrong...but Cara makes ME jittery...wish she'd develop a bit more self-esteem...and if she does run again...don't think Stephan would be so easy to forgive...

Can't wait for more...this story rocks!!!!

Title: Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Happy Endings

Love this story!!! So happy for Gretchen and Julius...if I can have vote, I'd want more of their storytold...if catching Gretchen and Julius post-coitus wasn't enough to kill off that old fart...nothing will...but I'd love to read how that relationship turns out...and of course, I can't wait until Stephan and Cara can really celebrate their union...so sad to see this story go, but I know you will take it out with a bang!!! Great writing as always, Brenda...

Title: Chapter 4: Chapter Three

Okay...what's is Alec playing at...seriously, he's telling himself and Lex that he can't be the man that Lexi wants...but here he is now going all "caveman" on her...for real...give me a break...he either needs to sh*t or get off the pot...why is he telling her what she should or shouldn't be wearing but having no intention of putting "claims" on her...his jealously was "cute" for want of better word last chapter...but now...he's just being a boor...be a man and claim your woman or move on...glad Lexi seems to finally be growing a backbone...she deserves better...she's worth it...let him know girl...let him know...

Can't wait for the next update

Title: Chapter 3: Chapter Two

No, this chapter does not suck...I'm actually enjoying a JEALOUS Alec...whether he admits it or not...Lexi's already wiggling her way into his supposedly non-existant heart...what I want to know is...what has made Alec so jaded and feeling so incapable of love...that in itself is a mystery...and I'm worried for Lex...she's putting her heart on the line and I would hate if Alec inadvertently crushes her because of his refusal and unwillingness to define what it is that's actually going on between them...gosh, I'm already feeling so protective of her...what is it about Alec's darkness that draws someone with so much light to him...she's already giving up her virtue to be with him...but I fear that he's going to complete a self-fulfilling prophecy of hurting her only to realize just how much she means to him and will it be too late to rectify the damage that has been done...I love this story and hope you update soon...and who is this mysterious "Johanna"...many questions still left unanswered...

Title: Chapter 11: Chapter 11 A Baby Named Justice

Brenda...Ophelia's death cut me deep...I knew something was going to go wrong during the delivery...but I never imagined it would result in Ophelia's death...I'm actually quite raw right now...maybe her and Raymond's love for one another was not to be understood from outsiders...but love each other they did...even if it was not the conventional kind of love most "sane" people would imagine...I hurt for baby Justice...never to know her mother's love for her...never to feel her comforting arms around her...never to have her guidance in her life...I weep...but as contemptible as I think Raymond is/was...he has to get his ish together for his daughter's sake...she needs her only remaining parent...I don't ever think Raymond will ever be a "good" person...it's not for me to judge...but really he is all that little girl has in the world...he and Bennie...it's so unfair for Raymond to shift all the responsibilty of raising her onto Bennie or even Abigail...for once in his life...Raymond will have to behave like an adult and be a real man and be there for his infant daughter...Justice didn't ask to be here...yet she is a reality...she's lost her mother...now she only has her father...step the heck up, Raymond, and love your daughter and for once in your life...stop being so damned selfish and think of HER...hope he listens to Abigail and seeks grief counseling...and professional help in general to find out why he was so fixated on a child that he would toss aside social mores and know her in a biblical sense when he had to know how not right that was...this is messed up...but I hope that there is some silver lining in Ophelia's death to help heal the sickness that is so pervasive in that relationship...

Even though I was happy for Bennie and Keisha...I know it is merely the calm before the storm...Bennie has yet not grieved the loss of his birth mother...I know he was trying to be strong...but he has to deal with Ophelia's loss too...

This is such a wonderful story...socially and ethically ambiguous and challenging...but I trust you so much as a writer to make some sense of the madness...

Author's Response:

Beleive me, it was hard to kill off Ophelia.  Me and My muse had a knock down drag out about it that left me exhausted.

You are right about Bennie and Keisha.  It's the calm before the storm.

As soon as I finish my project that is due on the 29th, I will be updating so thanks for being patient!
