Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8 - Misfortune Tellers

Some readers say Daddy is too exaggerated and over the top, but his antics crack me up! I picture him as Obba Babatunde - the dad from Half & Half. The conflict between Diya and Brandon over her reluctance to introduce him makes me look forward to when they actually meet because I know the ISH will hit the fan. I assume that in time Diya will stand up for herself and her relationship. I for one happen to enjoy the build up of this story and Diya's lying and sneaking around. Who among us hasn't hidden a man from family, at least temporarily? Sometimes a girl has to do that to keep something for herself before it gets sullied by others. If she puts her foot down now and cuts off her family for a happily ever after with her Branny Boo that could be THE END and I'm not ready for that. I need several more chapters because I am loving this story and your writing style!

Author's Response:

Obba Babatunde would make a perfect William.  He is a bit much.  But that's just a part of his dysfunction when it comes to Diya.  When he finally meets Brandon the shit will his an industrial strength fan.  And I'm with you on the not inviting my family into my relationships, especially not early on.  I've never gone to the lengths Diya has to keep things a secret, but I don't have the sort of family she does either.

By my estimate, we're only about a third of the way through this story (at most).  So no worries.  We've got lots more chapters and craziness to cover.

Thanks for the awesome review, BlkPearl!

Title: Chapter 23: Chapter 23 - The Trouble with Assuming

This was hilarious!  I can't wait for Sunday dinner. What I wouldn't give for a seat at that table! I'll bring the mac & cheese.

Author's Response:

Lol!  You might want to pack a taser and some zip-ties too.  Thanks BlkPearl!

Title: Chapter 29: Chapter 29 - Who You Love

Look, I love Diya & Brandon together just as much as the next girl but I gotta say that I'm so sick of Brandon's secrets and all his other shit. I'm all for love but Di needs to put herself first, above Brandon and especially her crazy ass family. She needs to live for herself for once and figure out who she is and what she wants. Surely she can't go on with Brandon fighting Marisol's battles while she and her disrespectful kids cling to him. I say to hell with all of them and let Di find her own happily ever after without all that nonsense.
