On rays of warmth
I seek you out
As the last violet petal
Feathers to somber dirt
Thirty seven days
Since we’ve played
Our jungle game
I map your trail
Broken twigs
Trampled yellow liken
Breadcrumbs
you leave along the way
Along with your smell
Your sweat of gold
That covered me just moments before
An aroma I’ve come to crave
I sheath my dagger in my pigskin pouch
Ready and eager in the hunt
Humid heat run into me
warming earth and skin
I move
Against the wind
Abstracts of greens, browns and violets
Blur past me
A playful smile
loving my face
As I pick up your scent once more
All your gold
Wrapped in a melting pot of coconut and breadfruit
Convoluting my senses
I still myself
Slow my breathing
A steady pace
Lift my head
Eyes closed
And lose myself in a sea of you
A woody pleasantness
Breathe it into me
And just when I forget myself
A breaking branch sounds out in the distance
And again without pause
I am off
My soiled feet beating at the jungle flour
Closing in on your hiding place
I feel you
Closer
With each step
And the proximity feeds my speed
I leave shaking palms,
Clouds of dirt in my wake
Call me the breeze
A warm swift breath of the earth
Unaffected by the bustling of exotic swine along my path
I see only you
And I find you
in a Jaca tree
Perched up high
Laughing down at me
And I search for fallen fruit
To throw at you playfully
Because we agreed “no trees”
You duck and a large Jaca sails past you
“ok…ok you win I shall do what you please”
You surrender willingly
“what is your bidding”
You ask with your tall, broad shoulders against the trunk of the tree
I keep my words
Knowing they have no place between us
Instead I observe my bounty
A mischievous and unrelenting smile
affixed along a scruffy jaw line
Rays of light claiming your brawny chest
Sun stroked and radiant
Your skin calls to me
Commanding my attention
And so
I move toward you
Like a panther to its prey
Focused in my intentions
My dark eyes loving the curves of each muscle
Unyielding
You stand your ground
Confidant and assured in your position
With my head just a breath away from your chin
I close my eyes to the sound of you
Breathing
And allow my lips to suck at your skin
And my tongue to lap your juices
Salt and tang
An across the sea sweatness
Claiming my taste buds
Fueling my thirst
Sending my senses reeling wild and careless
Zealous
In my exploration of you
As I bite your neck teasingly
Surprising your solid demeanor
You lace your calloused fingers in my locs
And pull my head back to face you
“You hungry”
You know the movement appeases me
And I answer readily
“Starving”
We topple to the jungle floor amongst ripened Jaca fruit
That I bite and allow you to taste
Sun and soil blanket us as we tousle over the earth
Our fleshed out lips
Drown in a sea of wet and sticky
As our tongues explore the zest
Your wandering hands press between my thighs
And I gasp in relief at the inclination
With little undoing our animal hide coverings are stripped away
Amidst the yelping of distant monkeys
I lace my long amber legs around you
As you lift me up against your hiding tree
And we lose ourselves once more to the sound of tousled leaves and falling fruit
We inhale each other
Heavy and full
Keeping alert of our surroundings
Yet never severing our entwined bodies
You move into my warmth sympathetically
Aware that your size takes caution
And I trust your control
Knowing any pain will be short lived
Welcoming you in further
My thighs loosen their grip on you
Moans and whimpers
Harmonize with the boiling blood beneath our skin
And fuse our separate bodies
As one
As we stare into each other
Into ourselves
Transferring this all encompassing
undying energy
In a climactic cry of relief and release
Our noise sends a nest of colorful birds fleeing from their perches
In the treetops
Then
When our bodies
Radiating dirt and musk
citrus and tang
are momentarily sated
we race the falling sun
back to our elevated hut
our home
sprinting pass our drinking hole
leaping fallen dogwoods
and scurrying rodents
we break the leafage
to our bamboo hovel
resting just above bronze sand
panting
on a lust-filled high
we unite our bodies in a bath of blue waves
our laughter mingling with the crashing tide
we gather our supplies
unbury the roasting hog
beneath sand and coals
prepare ourselves an awaited feast
of pork, breadfruit, coconut, and wild berries
We lived today
And when the sun sets
We’ll love for tomorrow
Allowing the chill of the night
To keep us entangled
Clenching
Grasping for escaping heat
On a starlit blanket
“So what’s my punishment for losing”
You question
I lean in next to our fire
Allowing the yellow flames to light my face
“A thousand days”
You move in on me
And wrap my legs around your waist
“A thousand days inside you?"
With that mischievous smile painted on your face again
“I’ll do my best”.
We taste again
